Shame on Stephane Leroux!

Today in la Presse, an article analyses the fact that more and more immigrants are playing hockey in Quebec. Which, I think, is really great for their integration and all.

Stephane Leroux, which is someone, that I and I think a lot of people will agree with me on this, respect, but damn did he just made a fool of himself.

He's talking about the Predateurs AAA from Montreal

"L'équipe compte plus de joueurs ethniques qu'avant. Je ne sais pas s'il y a un lien à faire, mais depuis quelques années, c'est le club qui fournit le moins de joueurs a la LHJMQ. C'est peut-être gros de dire ca, mais JE PENSE QU'IL Y A UN EFFET."

Translation:

"The team has more immigrant playres that before. I don'T know if their is a link, but in the last year, it's the team that gave the less player to the Junior hockey league. It might be big to say this, but I think there is a link to be made."

What a racist comment! I can't believe he went out to say this. Him associating the fact that more "ethnique" players is directly responsible for less contribitution is really big. In fact, that is ****ing ********!

I can't believe that someone could have the guts to go out and say something so horrible.

I think it deserved its own thread.

It'll be fun to see people come in here and defend him now.

One of the most moronic thing I've read. And to think this guy is a journalist for RDS An other example of how crappy that channel is.
Seriously, it just doesn't make any sense. The bad players play in the C anyway... The lack of ice time and the system are some of the main reasons.

At least the answer to this comment is great : "Bullsh*t!"

Maybe we should do a "Le survenant" version 2008. The mentalities haven't changed that much...

Seriously these controversial comments from Leroux are very disappointing. He should be clearly ashamed of associating correlations between ethnicity of the mentioned players and midget AAA teams contribution to the hockey junior inQuebec.

It's absolutely undefendable,no need to prove his point or defend his arguments.

Too bad, because I've highly respected him in the past.

Well he's right though, look at Wayne Gretzky, 2nd generation immigrant and he couldn't even get drafted!

keep them coming. Subban is an other good example.

Any one has an other good example of this kind of comments made on RDS? The Esposito vs McDonagh is a good one IMO.

I'm honestly surprised Komisarek made it this far, he's just flowing with ethnic blood.

We all know that Quebecer players are the supreme cream of the crop in hockey. That's why you see Patrick Poulin,Alexandre Daigle and Marc Bureau playing in junior and emerging as bonafide legit stars in the NHL.You can't go far in hockey without some ''pure laine'' blood in your veins.

The Montreal Canadiens franchise's never been a competitive and legitimate contender team since Koivu has been nominated as captain.Remember the last Cup win, nearly no single European on the team.

The bottom line is,if you want to build a winning team, promoting Quebecers in proeminent positions on the roster and in the organization is the way to go.

Sadly,a contigent of people would agree with this.

OR maybe he's saying the Q is racist for not drafting more ethnic players.

But the AAA Predateurs problems are much deeper than what Stephane states.
