I figure Kovalev was snubbed moreso than Komisarek

But Niedermayer over Rafalski is the ultimate snub.

How does that even happen though, he's played like 18 games...

Scott Stevens used to be there. Komi will be there sooner or later.

you know...this morning I was thinking and I think if Komisarek continues on the pace he's on, hits, blocked shots, pts, PIM + the Habs make the playoffs as a high seed, there's no reason he shouldn't get Norris trophy consideration

Niedermayer is a joke, seriously...

The entire all-star game is a joke if you ask me...

A Rod Langway type guy.

The more I watch him the more I'm convinced that Komisarek is our best defenseman. He can literally take over a game. Its scary to think that he'll probably just get better in the coming years.

Take it even a step further. Why have good goalies in the All-star game as well? Hell they are just preventing a few more goals in this game of shinny.

In my opinion this won't happen until the league finally creates an award for defensive defensemen. The trophy is almost always exclusively given to top scorers in D, while this isn't where Komisarek's game shine. Scott Stevens had a long and prolific career and never won it, and at his peek his offensive game was more developed compared to Komi's.

But among other stay-at-home blueliners in the league? Komi is certainly one of the best.

It's more : Who will bring more money? And Niedermayer surely will bring more money and popularity. But it is a joke.

To me, he is best Montreal defenseman this year and by far. Markov's had ups and downs, while Komisarek has been a constant force and frankly, he is only one on defense whose controlled a game by himself.

You're right...

But if you want to look at it this way, it would have been a lot more interesting for the fans to see Kovalev than Marc Savard.

Yes...Sometimes I get a headache when trying to understand some decisions this league takes.

Sports Illustrated - NHL All Star Starters Picks

In the east, starting on defense... our boy ...

D Mike Komisarek, Canadiens
The combative blueliner had a league-high 150 blocked shots and was second in hits (160). He's the perfect complement to slick partner Andrei Markov.

The Habs stepped up to the plate and donated the Rocket Richard Trophy to the league... The Leafs already created a trophy with the Conn Smythe.... Its time for the Bruins to step up and create the Bobby Orr Trophy....

Bobby Orr Trophy = Best Offensive Defenseman
Norris = Best Defensive Defenseman.....

What a kick in the pants it would be for the Bruins too if Komi won the Norris because their team created a trophy....

Actually i'd welcome that. Might make me actually watch an All Bore Game.

Some good blocks, and egads, maybe a hit or 2, and there might be interest again in this fading spectacle.

Watching the Skills Competition is fun and interesting but I can't stand All Star Games....there's really no point. I can watch the MLB All Star Game because it actually means something, but with nothing on the line, why watch the NHL ASG?

Sure Komisarek won't make it to the all-star game because he's a defensive defenseman. But look at that, he actually has only one fewer point than all-star Duncan Keith.

If Komisarek's name is on the ballot next year i guarantee he will be voted in. Sad thing is, he won't be on the ballot yet Bryan McCabe will be.
