luckily the bruins cant beat us

if boston beat us every game this year,

mtl would have 50 pts tied for 10th with Atlanta in east
boston would have 65 pts, 2nd in the east, 1 pt behind ottawa and 1 game in hand...

luckily they can't beat us and we play them 7 times a year, *knock on wood*

Sorry, but.. and?

To me, that's like saying "If we lost every game, we'd be in last place."

Clearly, beating Boston 6 times has improved our standing, but it's hardly the only reason. Even if we'd split those games, we'd be in a playoff position and it in fact takes losing 4 of the 6 for us to be outside the top 8. Even then we'd have games in hand on the teams we're tied with.

The sens are lucky we cant beat them...
If we are 0-3 against Ottawa this year. We'd be tied with them if we had won all our games against them.

BUT WE DIDNT....
Neither did the Bruins with us.

Actually, we'd be ahead of them. They lose 6 points, we gain them. We'd swap positions.

Not to nitpick, but yeah.

Actually, I meant to nitpick. Sorry.

Exactly. I hate it too.

It's like when people say "well you only win because you have Kovalev" (example)...

Well of course that's why we win, that would be the exact reason we have that player on our team. What's your point? The player is on the team and that's the end of it.

I hope that made as much sense to everyone as it did to me lol.

Okay okay, im a philosopher... so let's make sense of the question: were the Canadiens lucky to beat the Bruins in all*(you mention a position swap) games this season? So just by the last game..

The answer is: no

I dont get it, its like you have worst scenario vs. best scenario, and of course in Reality we have the latter going on. Are you an emo?

You are probably right, but there would still be complainers, negative threads, and media controversies.

Post of the week for calling him emo. In fact, all negative and useless thread starters are to be referred to as emo losers.

Forget us beating them. These guys are so awful that if the Bruins make the playoffs the league is a joke. Same with the Islanders.

We have beat the B's in a couple of close games, and we have spanked them hard in a couple of games, but they have most of the moral victories... It is funny how some teams match up well against some, and can't beat the others...Boston owns the Rangers, and we can't beat the Rangers??? BTW, there was one game we played vs the Sens, that we outplayed them, but they scored 2 quick ones with less than 5 minutes left, and then an empty netter, and if we had won this game, we would have 62 and they would have 64 pts....interesting...

This isn't a stupid thought, but when you get into 'what if's, you're just as well to wonder what if Markov were injured, or Huet.

If it weren't for Ottawa, Washington wouldn't have a chance at the playoffs.

And if we had been able to beat the Devils in Jersey last year, we'd have made the playoffs.

What flippin difference does it make?

Isn't the goal of hockey to win games? Regardless of who they're against?

Despite all our key injuries and the 12pts we gave to Mtl, we are only 5pts back. That is because our young guys we called up from Providence stepped up, the fact Chara-Savard-Timmay are leading the team like all stars and because Julien is a God. Like it or not, Chara is having a Norris season if it wasn't for Lidstrom and Savard is scoring despite being the solo concern for other teams to check.

Boston record against the rest of the NHL: 25-13-5
Habs record against the rest of the NHL: 20-15-8

All that without our best forward since game #10...

Awfull? Only against the Habs. And i can't explain why... Kind of like UFO's and Washington being 4-0 against Ottawa...

In 4 of the 6 wins against the Bruins, our next game was terrible and a loss (Gee I wonder why?). Who is to say that if we had lost those games against the Bruins, we wouldn't have bounced back with a win instead? We've been a great bounce back team after a loss this year, only losing 2 regulation games in a row one time. These 'what if' scenarios are a load of ****. Claude Julien coached teams are all the same. We had to suffer through that guy's bull **** and we know exactly how his team is going to play.

But I don't see why if we had gone 0-6 against the Bruins we wouldn't have bounced back with a win the next game, which we have done numerous times this year, keeping our record virtually the same.

There is a similar thread on the Bruins board. I love reading that place.
