andrei kostitsyn quite easily

plekanec has just carried on from what he started in the 2nd half of last season.... I dont call it an improvement but rather a continuation of what he already established last season.

komisarek has also improved but his improvement margin is not as big as kostitsyn's (although kostitsyn had much more room for improvement than komisarek)

Seeing we didnt really get a look at AK46 last season, Komisarek should be most improved player, hands down.

I knew A.Kostitsyn would do great, to me he didn't improve that much, he just has more icetime so more time to put up points and great plays (he did improve but just not that much IMO)...But Komisarek and Plekanec improved alot...especially Komisarek, he's playing with so much confidence...

Tough call, but I went with Komisarek. Last year, everyone was talking about Komisarek as though being paired with Markov made him seem better than he really was. Now this year, people are saying that Markov is at the All-Star game because he is paired with Komisarek. As far as I'm concerned, 'nuff said.

I have to go with Andrei Kostitsyn. From a guy that can barely have a safe spot in the line up, to a point per game player at this time, the choice was obvious.

Of course Komi has improved a lot too, but it goes progressively, Andrei took a bigger step this season IMO.

If we are going over a one calender year time period (ie January 28, 2007 to today) I would vote for Plekanec as he really emerged in the second half last year, and has carried that on and gotten better this year.

If we are going from the start of the season, which is what I think the OP wanted, then I have to say its close between Komi and Kosty. Both have stepped up their game. However I agree with Stradales assesment, Kostitsyn has come farther, occasional pressbox healthy scratch to PPG player over the last two months is huge.

Lets hope all our youngsters continue on the path they are taking this year though, because nearly all of those who have been in the NHL have taken big steps forward.

It was only a matter of time. The very first game I watch, correct me if I'm wrong was against Boston. Some other player the name I can't remember, hit Komi and it looked like the Boston player had hit a train...not a wall, a TRAIN!
Under Jullien, he had lost some thing....confidense maybe but today, he is our crushing TRAIN on the blue line.

Not that Plekanec has not improved but if you look at AKost, last year Jan 28 he was in Hamilton and now he's turned into a PPG player (since december at least). I voted for him based on this but my second choice would be Plekanec.

I say it has to be Andrei...he's gone from a guy that showed flashes to a guy that's on a 35 goal pace in the last 2 months and scored some of the nicest goals in the NHL this year.

Second for me is Komisarek, he's gone from a good stay at home guy that could hit to a guy that dominates and shuts down the best players in the NHL, he's also chipped in a bit of offense. If he isn't the best stay at home d-man in the NHL he has to be in the conversation.

Third for me is Plekanec, he's taken his game to another level and playing like a 1st line centerman, plus taking key faceoffs, PK etc.

Honorable mention to Gorges who has found his niche, I thought he was just a #7 guy or journeyman, but he has been very steady and solid now playing regularly. He's a solid #5-6 guy that could be #4 eventually...a lot like Rick Green in his day.

Kovy is not really improvement, just getting back to the way he could play, not sure what he did or what they told him but I hope he keeps it up for the next year and a half.

Komisarek has really taken his game up a couple of notches this year. In less than 12 months he went, imo, from a decent #3 guy, to a cornerstone of the franchise. If Komi could produced even twice the amount of points he does a year, so far in his career, his name would start coming up in future Norris talk.

I would also say that Gorges has definated improve alot in the past 20 or so games, from a guy I didn't want to see on the roster, to a decent, unspecular but serviceable dman.

Why is Andrei Kostitsyn the only one thats Italic? Cause he's winning? Cause I chose him?

#1 - A Kost - been tremendous the last 2 months
#2 - Gorges - doesn't get enough respect, he's been playing great. not very noticeable but it's because he rarely makes mistakes.
#3 - Komi - gets better each games
#4 - Pleks - excellent all around
#5 - Lapierre

I agree he was pretty good last year with Pleky.

It got to be Komisarek! All the things he does out there every single shift is amazing.

I would have to go with Komisarek - then Kostitsyn - followed by Gorges ( Pleks has been on a roll since the All-Star break last year!)

Why does everyone say it started after the ASG, it actually started FOUR weeks before, January first thru the end of the season, he garnered 35 points in 42 games....
