I'm a Ranger fan and I'm going to give my input.

DiPietro deserved to be there more than Lundqvist did.
Thomas didn't deserve to be there more than Lundqvist did.
Vokoun was a maybe.

DiPietro has been the better goaltender so far I believe. DiPietro has been pretty consistent. Lundqvist was AMAZING in the first 15 games or so. If he would of kept up that play he would have been the starting goaltender tonight if Brodeur was still not going to join the fun. With Lundqvist play this last month in a half could have greatly affected it. He may be getting his game back though. Believe me, seeing Lundqvist in that red All Star jersey would be nothing short of sweet.

DiPietro deserved to be at that All Star Game and thats coming from an Islander hater, even more a Ranger fan.

i don't see why this is even an issue... the guy is in a slump. Guys like DP and Thomas are in the game because they've been consistant all year.

Yes Henrik started off great, unhuman-like, but his recent play has been at best average.

Of course we know that Lundqvist is All-Star caliber, but from what he's shown the rest of the league how can fans of other teams justify voting for Lundy based on what they've seen?
Let's just hope he proves everyone wrong in the second half of the season, that would be a lot more fulfilling than seeing him in the ASG.

My post in a simpler nutshell. Though, Thomas I don't believe should of been in it.

Great post. And I agree with you.
Had Henrik kept up his play from Oct-early Nov during Mid Nov-present he likely would have started once Brodeur opted out.

IMO there WILL be a Metro Ice goalie invasion upon the All Star game. Its going to happen.

my 2 cents...

...i really dont care, and im much more happy henirk isnt there...he needs the rest and the possibility of any type of injury is something we dont need to deal with (See DP tonight)

..do i think henrik is better than rick? hell yes...but hank hit a bit of a slump and dp's been solid...hank probably should have been there over thomas and vokun...but again, as a rangers fan (and someone who honestly couldnt care less about the all star game)...im grateful henrik is charging the battery and getting ready for a playoff push, g-d knows...were gonna need him

as i stated in my above post..im actually happier my goalie is getting the rest rather than being in the ASG...but dp,marty, and hank all in all star jerseys together would make for one sick autographed picture

Henrik is not in the all star game because there are some flaws in his game. All you need to do to see his weaknesses is log onto his TSN profile. I would have to agree with their criticism of him

"Needs to start showing a greater desire to come over to North America."

Can they update these ever?

BTW, I think its disgusting that someone says "nice" when they find out a player gets hurt.

Homer post. DP deserves to be there. Lundqvist probably did too, especially after Marty bowed out. But, the fact that you say DP doesn't deserve it means you need to take of your red and blue glasses. This debate has happened many times already.

I think that someone mentioned that they use an outside company to update that stuff. I don't think most of it has been updated for years, it would seem. Pretty funny if you ask me.

To say that Henrik derserved an all star berth this year is homerism, pure and simple, and I love the guy.

Its this guy, right, that we (me included) think has a bad season? We are just spoiled.

2007-2008 Notes:
* Turned aside 14 shots to post the shutout on Tuesday vs. Atlanta, becoming the first Ranger goaltender to record seven shutouts in a season since Eddie Giacomin accomplished the feat during the 1970-71 season.
* Made a season-high, 36 saves and stopped one of three in the shootout, Saturday in a 4-3 loss at Boston.
* Tied for first in the NHL in shutouts (seven), fourth in wins (21), and ranks 10th in goals against average (2.33 GAA).
* Has held opponents to two or fewer goals in 24 of 44 games this season.
* Turned aside 23 shots in a 2-1 win vs. the Sabres on Jan. 16 to record his third consecutive 20-win season
* Turned aside 18 shots in a 4-0 win on Dec. 18 vs. the Penguins for his career-high, sixth shutout of the season.
* Posted a 5-1-0 record along with a 0.83 goals against average, a .968 save percentage and three shutouts over New Yorks six game homestand from Oct. 25 vs. New Jersey to Nov. 5 vs. Philadelphia.
* Awarded Second Star honors by the NHL for the week ending November 4, posting a 3-0-0 record, 0.65 goals against average, .976 save percentage and one shutout during the span.
* Stopped 31 shots en route to his third shutout of the season and 10th of his career in a 2-0 victory vs. Washington on Nov. 1; Needed just 131 starts to reach 10 career shutouts, becoming the third fastest to the mark in franchise history (1. G. Villemure - 102 starts; 2. E. Giacomin - 110 starts).

I honestly can't believe I received a warning for joking around with an Islanders fan regarding the amount of Islanders fans who post on our board.

Putting that aside, I think that if Henrik was voted in, it would be understandable.
Also, not including Henrik in the ASG is also understandable.

Basically, it's something that could go either way...both are fair.
