Nice to know the All-Star Game isn't being picked up by any regular cable stations.

I agree. He probably has a better shootout record than most of the all stars. He is definitely better than Ovechkin and Getzlaf.

Agreed...given that it's pretty widely-known that he's not exactly a fast skater, I think it's pretty clear that the organizers or coaches were just looking for some place to stick him. Granted, he's not the only guy to get shafted, but it's still disappointing that we didn't get to see him in either shootout...I don't really have a problem with him getting passed over for the final breakaway thing, but you can't honestly tell me that guys like Lidstrom and Timonen (among others) belonged in the first elimination shootout over Anze.

And, speaking of that final breakaway event...did anyone else think it was just plain laughable? Failure after failure after failure and a panel that looked like they should be judging a bake-off at the local fair doling out points based on which contestant failed miserably in the most creative way. I think the NHL has proven fairly conclusively that the slam dunk competition can't be translated into a hockey format.

He supposedly made a very nice move but missed the shot according to the commentators.

Of course, nobody watching on television saw this because of the amazingly terrible coverage by Versus; they were once again showing a replay during live action.

The whole event was an abomination as the setup and Versus coverage reeked of an ECHL skills competition. The entire proceedings were so amateur that even a diehard hockey fan like myself was bored out of my mind.

Amateur on all levels and a waste of time.

Bad day for Kings fans yesterday, only positive is others now may think Kopitar is actually very fast?

Do not think anyone is going to be any happier to know that Kopitar is supposed to be playing 4th line today, not sure how much he'll be playing but at least they kept him at center.

LOL @ "4th Line" as if traditional line setups mean anything in an All-Star game

Obviously not and I could care less about the All-Star game. At the same time you think you are going to see a line of Sedin-Thornton-Gaborik or Nash-Datsyuk-Iginla play less than Horcoff-Kopitar-Ribiero?

I just got done trying to watch it after DVRing it last night. Horrid. The Versus guys were at least one step behind whatever was happening. Technical staff and on-air felt like they had no idea what was going on. My favorite parts were when they kept calling Vokoun Dipietro and talking to Dipietro about goalie stick-handling in the middle of hardest shot.

Yawn, never again.

Wow the East is owning the West so far. Hopefully Kopitar can lead a comeback.

I'd make the all star team playing behind Detroit's defense....

and man goal tending made the difference. Nabokov was showing some skills! Stoned Kovalchuk twice. Gave nobokov a hug the first time and threw his stick down the second!
