What Hollow Do You Skate On?

I am using a 5/8 hollow this season and loving it.

Has anyone skated on a 5/8 hollow and gotten a more shallow hollow?

What did you get and did you like it?

1/2"

I wipe into boards with anything else. Plus I wouldnt trust many to sharpen anything non standard.

just switched from 1/2 to 5/8 about 2 weeks ago and all of the sudden I was like "OH... this is what it's supposed to be like!" like a lightbulb went on in my head.

I'm at 1/2" and going to try 9/16" soon.

I generally use 3/4 even though I'm a pretty lightweight hockey player, i just like the feel of pushing off solidly every stride. With 1/2 inches I usually over-cut my turns and end up having the heel end of the blade wipe out.

Either a 9/16 or 5/8. I'm a lightweight but I learned to skate on dull blades so I'm used to having a shallow cut.

The standard one my skate sharpener uses (no idea what that is exactly), but I've been wanting to get a custom profile for awhile now, just have never gotten around to it.

7/16". The guy that cuts my blades recommended it and I really like it. I was at 1/2". Not a huge difference, but enough.

I usually just tell the guy to sharpen it and forget to tell him the hollow until after he's done with the first skate so I just use whatever they have. Although when I do remember I usually like 5/8"

I've recently been given access to the sharpener at the rink so I've been experimenting with different hollows. I'm at 5/8 now and still going strong so I may go shallower next cut.

ITs pretty much standard around here, unless you ask for something different, you get 7/16 as an out player and 1/2 for the goalie. I use a 1" ROH but I also have my goalers done with a 30'(foot) Radius on the profile.

I use 3/8. It's a little tight, but I feel I have a better edge to bit with.

13/16 inch hollow.
i'm a forward. i have my own machine and i experimented until i was happy.i can stop striding and still cruise without slowing up much. and i can get it going again with minimal effort.
the smaller hollows actually cause friction and slow you down . the higher the hollow the less friction. i reccommend to all of you guys to keep going up in hollow till you find a sweet spot, you'll be surprised at how much easier skating can be.

So anyone think there's a big difference between 5/8" and 3/4"? Seems like a lot of guys here like the 3/4" hollow.

I'm going in different direction. From 5/8" to 1/2". Gives you more agility due to greater bite, while speed is not affected by much.

In T-Blades I'm using an M9 blade. Great combo, lots of bite, and still lots of speed.

9/16 for me. 1/2 feels like I have too much drag and at 5/8 I don't trust my edges.

For those of us rec players who aren't up on such things, can someone fill us in on what the differences are and how it should effect skating? I can use all the help I can get with my skating.
