Teemu Returns

Well, now that the "Niedermayer/Selanne Updates" has a conclusion, I figured we could start with fresh thread for the return of our hero. Unless Bertuzzi and Weight completely suck all year, the current team is even better than last season's. This is going to be another fun ride.

The article says he's ready to go and making the roadtrip.

WOOOOOHOOOO!!!!! Yes! Welcome back, Teemu!

This is a joke, cap circumvention at it's finest, this loophole has to be closed, what if all teams did it?

All teams already have the option of signing free agents, no?

I really doubted it for a long time, but I am glad that I admitted that it was going to happen before it happened.

Welcome back, Teemu. Now, on to that line-mate speculation thread...

I hope Detroit picks up Hossa + Kalinin and we play you in the WCF.

That would be pure awesome, and an excellent chance to build some rivalry.

Is anyone else skeptical about Teemu playing with Weight and Kunitz? Hoepfully they mesh well together. When Sami comes back I will like this team much better than last years.

Perry-Getz-Bert
Kunitz-Weight-Teemu
Moen-Pahlsson-Nieds
Parros/May-Sutherby/Marchant-Whoever else...

Nieds-Beauch
Pronger-O'Donnell
Schneids-Huskins

Giggy
Hiller

If the chemistry develops as I hope it will this team will be absolutely lethal.

I don't believe Selanne can reach his usual scoring touch anymore, but he should still boost Ducks PP considerably. Before Salami can produce, however, he needs some healthy games as a sort of training and there is a danger: Despite Selanne's HOF status, he's going to be potential target of hitmen & cheapshooters by rival WCPO teams. I see Carlyle using Selanne sparingly and make him mainly(but not solely) a PP specialist.

TSN says Selanne signed for 600,000 with 1.35 in performance bonuses when he plays 10 games.

Apparently you guys still have room to make deals at the deadline if you so desire. So having Selanne doesn't put you out of the race for players.

Ha, you could have, like, Sundin centering Teemu on the 2nd line.

Your GM is officially an evil genius.

I'm not really a Ducks fan, but Brian Burke is one of the best persons in hockey. He's a kind of mixture of Al Swearengen and Denny Crane.

But... but... I thought he was going to Montreal, or Philadelphia, or Leksans, or Jokerit, or on January 23rd?

Hopefully this quashes any more stupid Sundin proposals.

edit:

Hmm 10 games played bonus? That sounds suspiciously Bobby Ryan related. I believe Ryan has to miss 1 more game to lose some bonus eligibility, and they signed Teemu to a contract now.

Now the question is does Ryan play 12 more games at some point to lose Calder eligibility for next year to free up some Perry tagging space.

Press release says he'll travel with the team starting tomorrow. Will be interesting to see how much ice time they give him the first couple weeks.

why was he out?? did he not feel like playing a whole year, but felt like all the playoff glory?? WOW would not like to be the young kid who has toiled all year for the chance, only to be sent back down because some player who thinks he is part of the "team" can return when he likes, First Scott now Temmu, not fair. But it does make the team better

You're right, screw 'em. Lets give a hard-working kid in the 'Coast a shot instead. That'll definitely bring a Cup to Anaheim and please the sponsors. That's some first class reasoning...

Or the young kid could be happy Scott and Teemu took the time off because otherwise he wouldn't have had ANY time in the NHL.

Now that Niedermayer AND Selanne have returned, this team could go for another cup, prob the only team in the west that can take down Detroit
