The Positive Thread

This board is too easily dragged into the darkness.

The team is no worse this season than last season at this time.

The Season is far from over friends. Plenty of opportunity left. Plenty of time to get a winning streak going.

Its always better to streak into the playoffs. They will get it done.

Have some faith.

Seriously, have some faith in your team.

They are still very much in IN the race.

How, exactly? They are tied for 8th place. Sure they didn't play well tonight, but there's no need for overreaction.

Talking about the season being over on January 29th when your team is in 9th place in the conference and

1 pt out of the 8 spot

ONLY 7 points away from the 2 spot.....

come on friends.....its far from over

The BEST hockey has yet to be played. LOL literally

Its going to be a tight race , right down to the wire. The last month is going to be insanely intense.

All inter division games 4 pt swings that are going to have all of us wound up tighter than a ....well you know

Its going to be Alot of fun. Some losses that will sting, some highs that will reassure.

But they will make it.

I'll say it again, this team is in no way shape or form out of the playoffs. They can, and probably will make it. But its more because there is so much mediocrity around us that we will back our way into it. The question is, can this team win the cup? have any of us seen ANYTHING for more than 2 games that makes you believe they are a cup contender?

sadly, i will have to say no.

Last year you probably could say yes, because down the stretch they turned it all around. if this team can suddenly go 20-5-5 to finish this year, then of course they can win the cup, because weve seen for an extended period of time they can win games. but if they go 14-13-3 and manage to squeeze into the 8th spot, will it have been worth making those trade to put us over the top and barely squeak in, only to lose to the sens in 5? or would it be more worthwhile to trade assets and have an accelerated rebuild, that in my opinion wont even last a full year because of the depth and quality we have in this organization, and set ourselves up for the next decade.

i guess the answer varies between all of us. i for one would rather have what we can call a "legit cup contender" heading into the playoffs (based on play, not names), rather than being canon fodder for the senators.

We're tied in points with the 8th place Isles. We're 9th not because of a point but because of an extra game we've played thus far.

Hope, as they say, springs eternal. I never thought we'd get in last year, and surprise, surprise!

If we could: Figure out how to win on the road, find our missing power play, have JUST ONE forward get hot, jettison a defenseman or 3, get a shot in the arm in terms of a trade deadline upgrade, give Renney a lesson on in-game stategy, get a burst from Jagr...ok,ok, I am rambling...

We will be OK.

How many 'Positive Threads' do we need on this board? This is the 3rd one created over the last few days. If a team is playing at a level that actually requires its fans to create positive group think discussions after a block of games, then maybe the negative criticism and panicky state is justly deserved.

Ummmm. *scratches head* I know I didn't pay all that much attention in history class, but wasn't that the Japanese?

I can't be positive before lunchtime, sorry.

Edit: See, it's too early in the morning. The Animal House reference flew right over my head.

thats not very positive....

how many positive threads does it take to offer a piece of sanity after a loss in January?

Lets make this THE positive thread.

An Island of calm in a sea of negativity

Well...given the state of the board, I'm going to guess: Zero.

You know what got me? Last night after the game when they showed Lundqvist and flashed the caption, "Hasn't won on the road since Dec. 1." It was definitely a Lifesaver moment. I can't remember which kind are supposed to help in sports situations. I think it's Wintergreen. Someone should send him some.
