Hossa is going to expensive. I'd ask for deal around Niskanen (& Jokinen, if he can play center) and I realize that's where the negociations will stop already. The Thrashers need defenseman, centers and right wingers. No UFA, only RFA and NHL ready or close to NHL ready prospects.
Why doesn't Dallas aim for Mark Recchi? Mark rebounded nicely in Atlanta (20 points in 23 games) and has been a pleasent surprise, after getting out of the Crosby Kindergarden club. Bobby Holik will be available too. I'm not so sure, if Dallas needs a player of Holik's caliber. He's still solid on face-offs and a playoff proven veteran (2 Stanley Cup rings.)
I won't give up a 1st for any of those guys except St Louis (edit: nevermind, we don't have a first to give away ... ).
My feelings are this: if we get a good deal on a decent player, take it. I don't really care who, just as long as we don't have to give away the farm for him. If there's a bidding war for anyone, run away as fast as possible. I'd rather stand pat than overpay.
Its funny how everyone just wants Hossa. When
A) The Stars aren't good enough to win the cup with Hossa
B) How many big name trades that are rentals, work out for teams in the playoffs?
C) There's no guarantee he stays.
D) The best teams get their deals done in the off-season, not during the season to make them cup contenders.
I only voted for Prucha, because he's young, skilled and not a UFA. Though I'd be happy just to deal Norstrom for assets and call it a trade deadline.

I wouldn't trade Niskanen for UFA Hossa straight up. A combo of Grossman, Boucher, or Fistric, +Jokinen might be a starting place.
I really think we are no where near Det or ANa class. I would actually be a seller in ayear when there are many buyers trying to make the playoffs. Any UFA to be except Hagman and defense can go. Near ready prospects or young players in return. Remember Ducks big trade deadline deals were selling O'Brien for a 2nd rounder and getting May for depth. Cup teams do not need trade deadline deals
None of those players excite me, especially for price that some will cost. cough*Marty St. Louis/Marian Hossa*cough I would rather get somebody who I know will stay and won't cost an arm and a leg
Could be interesting to see what Ryder could do together with Ribeiro again. But getting Hossa for something like a draft pick, Daley or Norstrom, Ott or Jokinen would be great. And if they signed him like they did to Ribeiro for many years.
i voted hossa but only with the idea that we'd definately lock him up
prucha wouldnt be bad, neither would ryder or stoll as far as guys who might not take alot but are youngish with upside.
My main goal would be dumping norstrom for a draft pick or forward prospect. If the rangers would do prucha for norstrom id be all over that.
