Kondratiev on waivers?

I think the Rangers should definitely get him back. I have always liked him when he played with us. He is not going to be an offensive dynamo, but he is a good two-way dman who can do a great job in replacing Malik I think. If he can't, we send him to the minors to let him develop. He is solid defensively and has decent offensive skills and good size.

He's playing in Russia right now b/c Anaheim tried sending him to the minors and he refued to go.

But yeah I was thinking about this as well. But would rather see what we have w/ Baranka, Liffiton, Sauer.

He's played 4 games. How do we know what he is. If we want to go with an unproven d-man, I'd rather promote from within.

If he was never a Ranger would anyone really want this guy back?

yes, I would. He is solid on D and still has potential.

Kondratiev on waivers? That doesn't sound right.

He's been playing in Russia since Anaheim sent him to Portland 4 games into the season. In fact, he played for SKA in their game today. His team is very much in the playoff hunt, so I don't see him leaving to come over now. Although since he is signed, a team could always pick him up to have him once the RSL season is over. Maybe Anaheim's at their 50 contract max and are trying to shed one?

Incidently, the last SKA game I watched (in mid-December) his defense partner was Darius Kasparitis. The most notable thing about his play was that he got in a fight with Oleg Saprikin, who challenged him after Kondratiev threw a big hip check in open ice. Kaspar scored a goal on big slap shot in that game as well.

I liked Drats and hoped he turned into a solid NHLer. He hasn't, he doens't want to (won't) play in the minors and we've got better prospects in Hartford at the moment.

Yeah... he was waived because Anaheim's defense is/was ridiculously deep, even before Niedermeyer came back. The Rangers wish they had that kind of depth.

As much as I don't want him back, i'd rather have him as a #7 then locker room cancer Malik, or Strudwick.

id rather have baranka or liffiton playing over malik and Struds. Liffiton can be the 7th dman and Baranka should play as a top 6.
