A lot and a lot of people would lie for their kids.
No parent wants to see their young ones go to jail.

I agree, to a point...But put yourself in the shoes of the family of the girl he assulted...You wouldn't want him to go free because his dad lied to cover for him.
Personaly i dont care for Guy Lafleur, he was lucky during his "good years", and i didnt even watch them, so hes nothing to me
During my lifetime, all ive ever heard about lafleur was that he was supposedly a great player, and a real @$$hole , and so far the last couple of years, hes said nothing but terrible, stupid, nonsensical things in the media making him look even worse than i thoguht he was

No of course, that's the complete opposite.
If some guy would ever assault any of my future kids id kill him myself.
On the other side, id do everything to help my kid out if he's in deep crap.

Since you never watched him play or met the man in person. You are just following opinions from other people and not using your own mind to make a decision on him.
People can love him or hate him, it's your perogative. But atleast have a mind of your own.
Guy Lafleur is not under arrest. This thread title needs to be changed.
Lafleur must be in court, or a warrant for his arrest will be effective by 10am Friday.
Thanks Vlad, my french isn't that good. But my understanding was his lawyer has stated that Lafleur would turn himself in. I didn't see anything about a warrant currently being issued for his arrest.

That's off topic but there are limits.
Plus, you're not actually helping a kid if you actually bail him out of consequences anyway. You're just bailing him out.
Anyways, those are personal choices... an interesting debate but I'll stop here since it's a hockey forum.
Obligatory on-topic hockey comment: Pavel Datsyuk rocks.

Here are the two relevant quotes from the article:
"Un mandat d'arrestation visé a été émis à l'endroit de Guy Lafleur,"
"Le mandat sera exécutoire vendredi matin, à 10 heures"

Thats pretty easy to say on an internet forum.
How cold hearted would one be to say to his son tough luck, you have to face your consequences, when your son looks at you crying his heart out saying he doesnt want to be the gf of some cellmate.
Im not saying he did the right thing by lying, none of us can actually be judgmental since none of us have been through it. I just meant to say that its completely understandable and it doesnt deserve any jail time.
