Says he recorded 37 points in 40 games and that Bob Gainey is staying updated on him. They also quote Bob Gainey as saying that because of his recent play and since the habs own his rights for two more seasons, his value is getting higher. They conclude by mentioning that it could be an interesting story to follow until the trade deadline.
Basically it's saying Perezoghin is doing pretty well in the Russian league.
Bob's top aide commented on him: "We've just concluded our mid-season meetings in Edmonton and our reports are updated about Perezoghin. We still detain ownership on him for the next two season so we'll see. I don't know if he ever plans to come back because he makes a lot money over there, but he certainly is an asset that gains value every year"
he has lots of points, and he is playing well. BG : " we still own him for 2 more yrs, dont know if he will come back, but its nice to see he is doing well"
The first round pick of the Canadiens in the 2001 draft showed some flash during his three seasons in Hamilton without truly imposing his presence.
Bob Gainey was not able to keep him with the team due to a ludicrous contract offer in Russia, but we still have our eye on him.
"We've concluded our mid-season meetings at Edmonton yesterday, confessed Bob Gainey's right hand man, Julien Brisebois, and we still own his rights for the next two seasons, so we'll see. I don't know if he has any intention of coming back here because he's making a lot of money there, but he's certainly someone whose value increases due to his performances.
I think it would be pretty dumb to trade Perezhogin's rights to another team.
Unless a mid-20s player who is at the very least one more season away from returning has tons of value to another team, we should hold on to him. Chances are he won't return, but if he does he'd be far more useful than anything we could get for him.

Include him in a package....we can survive without him.
Bring him over for the rest of the season and get rid of Ryder
If I recall correctly, there's a rule about having to go through waivers if you sign a pro contract in another league and want to return/sign in the NHL past a certain date (I think that date is the start of the season).
Basically what I'm saying is if I recall this rule correctly, there's a high chance the Habs would lose his rights because I'm certain some team out there would give him a shot if he went on waivers.
That's an overblown reputation...if Perezhogin's such a hook specialist what does that make Koivu?
Perezhogin would bring much much more than Ryder right now... it seems that he didn't take the right decision... who knows he could've light the NHL up instead of the RSL...

He's getting paid way more over there than he would be in the NHL for any team. I'm sure if you ask him he's happier over there anyway.
Agreed, a first line winger should be a 40-50 goals or 90-100 pts player. We should look forward to have a player like this rather than look down and try to fill the role with yet another compromise.
