Glencross can definitely throw his weight around. I wonder if Dustin Penner had any input on this deal given he played with Glencross in Portland (AHL) when both players were Duck's prospects.
That's a good point, I could see them asking him about his personality and demeanor.
Sorry for bringing back another old thread Cerebral, but with the upcoming end of the season, I wanted to say that the addition of Glencross really helped turn around the season. He made the 4th line solid - and the 4th line helped add energy and the odd goal with every shift they were out there, making the other lines more effective.
Although here are some of the memorable posts in this thread on this trade.

Yeah, no kidding. We couldn't get a first or second line player for Dick Tarnstrom. A $2 million UFA who we aren't even using. Fire Lowe...

Anyway, it's not so much about Tarnstrom as it is about people getting excited over a move that doesn't improve the team in any appreciable way and doesn't address any needs of the team going forward. This team is already sunk this season, so another 12-minute man isn't going to help matters now or down the road. So whatever.

He will likely anywhere from a top 2 to a top 4 d-man in Columbus, and for this we get another 3rd liner?
Kevin Lowe, I sure hope you have some doozy's lined up soon, because everybodies patience is wearing thin, and you haven't done a single thing since the beginning of the year. Most importantly, getting rid of your buddy, but this trade is clearly poor asset management. Maybe us fans should be happy that you haven't made any other deals this year.
Im too lazy to look back at my post but I think I nailed it head on.
Im very happy with both Glencross and myself.
Same here, I remember even before he came to Edmonton, he seemed to get a ton of mentions on the radio when we played them, and it never seemed to be negative.
Nice bump Master Lok! This is exactly what keeps a humble balance - ACCOUNTABILITY!
It's fine to state your mind, but commenting so emphatically on a topic that you clearly have NO credentials or knowledge about is just arrogant.
Not even that though. Like you said it is fine to state your opinion on what you tihk. But to get in a heated argument about a player that you have no clue about how they will react in the future with a new team. None of us can predict the future. State your opinion about said topic and move on.
Like I said I want pictures of Little Fury's foot in his mouth.
Haha, Little Fury is munching on crow now. Glencross did a hell of alot more for this team than Tarnstrom ever could imagine.
Well, I'm sure p.o'd I'm the only person to ever be wrong ever. But I stand by my rationale, given Glenncross didn't exactly have much of a track record coming in. So I was wrong, as were a great many others. It happens.
I must say all this neener-neener is pretty sad when you consider the response to this deal was anything but enthusiastic. In othe words, nobody was loving this deal, and I challenge any of you to show me otherwise.

Wel, that would apply to pretty much everybody on this board. Thanks for coming out, champ.

I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong. I have a wee problem with people who didn't even take part in the original discussion chiming in with their two cents after the fact.
All things being considered, though, it's just the internet, so no big deal.

My main point was that you made such a big deal about a player you didn't know much about coming in. Sure its fine to state that you think the trade was garbage, but to defend it and call Lowe a moron and get into heated arguments with others on the board is just ridiculous. I am just asking that you accept defeat graciously because you were definitely the most prominant in this thread from what I can see. Like you said lots of people are wrong. But I for one am the kind of person to call myself out if I am wrong on something.
I didn't state my opinion on the trade that day because I really didn't care less about the trade. Seemed like it was a trade that didn't really make us better but certainly didn't hurt us either.
For the record I am all for the trade. Glencross really impressed me in our last loss against the Jackets. Would have prefered a pick, but really that depends on its position.

There is somebody wrong in just about every thread like this. I guess this one was your turn. It might be my turn next but I welcome it.
I was going to say you were taking it well. Until I see this gracious "neener-neener" response.
