Streit needs to be signed. Right now. Long term. No questions asked.

I mean if it's true that Streit wanted $2.5M per for 3 years like 2 weeks ago.. give him $3M per for 4 years right this instant.

He's going to score over 65 PTS.. when is the last time a Habs defenseman did that?

We should waive Bouillon and Dandenault as well. Kostop is fine up front and Begin too. And O'Bryne will be back soon.

UFA talk: Huet, Streit, Ryder...

Can we keep 'em all? Will we? Sign Huet for 2 years? (Huet might want to cash in on a 4 year, $4 mil+ per year contract? can't blame him...& will it be with us?). Sign Streit for 3 years? ($2 mil/year?). Ryder? (try to sign him for
1 year/$1,75 mil?! trade him?? he might get 40 goals somewhere else? maybe not...?!).

February 27 TRADE deadline, it'll be interesting, nerve-wrecking...
We have to sign Plekanec, Komisarek to long-term deals, and what about Kovalev & Koivu after next year...? (Kovalev for another 2 years? Koivu?). Wouldn't want to be our GM (so many tough decisions to make). The clock is ticking...

p.s.: Carey Price update...!! Recently saved 20 out of 21 shots for a shootout victory. Just a good thing to know...

Go HUET Go!
Go Price Go!

Why would we want to keep Ryder?

I don't care if he can shoot. He can't do anything else. The only thing he did in the game today is almost blindly injure Markov.

If he scores 65 points I'll go dance naked on Ste-catherine.

Exactly what I was thinking (I'm sure we're not the only ones).
Well...I guess we have to go with...fluke accident. We'd be furious if it caused a serious injury to his eye or jaw, but we can also go with "accidents happen...".

I was also nervous when I saw Higgins go down (reminded me a bit of Patrice Bergeron). Higgins has to protect himself better than that, he really exposed himself... Higgs is definitely not playing his best hockey right now (at least in the pts department), but...I don't doubt his effort, heart. It'll come (the ppg - or close - Higgs that we know, or...it might happen in playoffs - the "real" season -, even better!).

Good victory today (every victory is crucial)

Go HABS Go!

Ryder shouldn't be re-sign...

As for the other two, I thought we could let Streit walk but the way he's playing and how good he makes the PP (wonderfull chemistry with "Marky" ), I now think we should keep him, as long as he doesn't ask for the moon...2,5mil/y for 2-3 years would be good.

Huet's situation is more complicated. He'll be in high demand and will ask for a long term contract (4y+) at more than 4,5mil/y...and will get it for sure...

Gainey will have a decision to make, either to let him go and get a capable experienced goalie to support Price... or to convince Huet to sign back and probably trade Price...

If we could get a guy like Lecavalier with a package of Price, I'm all for it, but I honestly think that Huet will be playing for another team next year...

I like Streit, of course. But I think the Habs are developing the depth of talent and have a crafty enough systematic approach that you'll never have a great deal of difficulty replacing his production in the lineup. And let's face it, he doesn't bring much more than that production. So I don't think there needs to be any big rush to re-sign him. I still wouldn't give him more than $2M per.

He's an incredible bargain at his current salary, of course. But I don't think he's a critical player to the future success of the team. (He's probably actually more important to the _present_ success of the team than he will be to the future success). There are other players who are more important and should be higher priorities to allocate the money to, other areas of need that the team could spend the money on in order to "step forward" than on Streit. Of course, that doesn't mean he should be overlooked entirely. If his salary needs can be met in a fiscally conservative way that doesn't interfere with our payroll allocations to higher priority players, then great. Bonus. Just saying I don't think it's really all that critical if we can't manage that.

He's on pace for 57 PTS.

But if he continues his play of late.. he'll score 65.

cmon relax.

I think contracts should be signed on a game by game basis. You play well you get a raise for next game. You **** the bed, you can go play for the Leafs next game.

Streit will be signed, but if it's for $3M I'll lose total faith in humanity... again.

Streit will never get 70 points. I believe 60 is his plateau, which is still great.

Nobody wants Ryder, or Brisebois, so let's package them together and trade them

Plekanec is great and the sad thing is, I can see an offer sheet going out on this guy :S

Why because having a versatile player who can log #1 PP minutes, #4 D minutes, or 4th line minutes.. and score 50-60 PTS per year is a bad thing?

There are a lot worse contracts out there.

First get rid of that waste of cap space named Hamrilik. He makes 5.5 million over the next 4 years.

Holy overrating batman! He'll top out at 55 pts max this year and he'll probably cool off big time next year. (getting around 40-45 pts)
