What a great year the recchinball is having.
#1 on the team in goals(tied), assists, and points.

Although the flyers aren't anywhere on the top NHL points list, its still good to lead the #1 team in the East(tied). Gotta love his style of play.

Makes my $49.95 purchase of a Recchi replica jersey even sweeter this summer

I thought he sucked under Barber and a lot of last year. Sucked probably is a bad choice of words, but he was on MY get-rid-of list.

This year it isn't just points that make the improvement, in my opnion. I've only seen him try to skate down the wall with the puck only to be pinched off just inside the blueline a couple of times. That had been his signature move for a while. He's shooting, also something I would scream for him to do last year. Other than playing the point on the power play Hitch has put him in a position to be successful.

I know that Prims and some others get a lot of leadership credit, but Recchi is a guy who leads by example. He tells the guys that they need to score and instead of just telling them that, he goes out and he does it. I thought that he would probably have like a 50-60 point season, but his stats are on pace for more than that and he has shown a lot of leaderhip on the ice.

I never lost faith he could be effective this year despite being another year older. Last year I think he got a lot of unwarranted criticism. He was the team's best player in the playoffs last year, and he's my choice for MVP this year so far.

I will also congratulate Recchi on a great year so far. I thought he might be on his way down and not worth the salary he was getting but he has been arguably their best player on the ice this year.

I agree. Signing a 37 year old to a big contract next year might be a poor choice

Not only has Recchi been our best player, but for the last 3 seasons he has deferred 2.5 of his 5 million dollar contract back to the Flyers!

Money is not an issue with Rex. I hope he resigns and inevitably retires as a Flyer.

He'll still retire having earned like 45+mil from playing hockey.

Ok, but he deserves every penny (considering how other players are getting paid).

Too true. I'd like to see him return, but let's hope it's not anything larger than a reasonably priced two-year contract.

Yep. Break it down in dollars per goal, per assist, or per point, and Recchi is a better deal than a few high priced players on the Flyers, and many high priced players in the league. How about dollars per game? He's had a healthy career, and has not picked up too many paychecks from the trainers room.

Recchi is an awesome player to have on a team, he does lead by example and never whines or goes to the media about $hit... I'm sure he well respected in the room and on the ice, a real pro and a classy guy! When he was a Hab and the score was 5-2 for you guys(Leclair3g2a) if there was 1 minute 30 sec left he would still be out there busting his butt to make it 5-3... just the type of guy he was! I hope he stays with the Flyers and retires there also!

Blong - You're a Habs fan? That team has really been impressing me lately. Some great young kids playing well with a huge upside. Theodore just gets better every year too.
