For Those Who Wanted Cujo Back...

"Not-So-Grand Opening -- This was not what Curtis Joseph had in mind when he signed with the Calgary Flames.

Making his season debut, Joseph was peppered early and often by the Edmonton Oilers in a 5-0 loss at Rexall Place. Joseph allowed all five goals on 28 shots.

"I would have liked to have come out of the first with nothing against," said Joseph, who allowed a pair of tallies in the opening period. "That gave them some life, you could tell. As a goaltender, you want to make the big saves." "

from NHL.com

Ew.

5 goals on 28 shots. Ouch.

Should've stayed retired Cujo.

He actually didn't play too bad last game, yes he was a bit rusty, but the defensive play was the worse i've seen all season and he was left out to dry for most of the goals.

Wasn't that Legace's line in the last Blues game too?

In any case, it's way too early to write him off. Give him five or so games to see if he gets back in the groove.

I'm personally glad we stuck with Hannu. I think he still has what it takes to be a solid starter in the NHL. No use pushing him to the side for somebody who is only going to be around for a few more seasons at best.

Hannu at least has the potential to get better. CuJo doesn't - his 3.18 GAA last year wasn't just because he was in Phoenix.

When was the last time Hannu was given a chance to do anything? He hasn't played since January 19...

I agree! That has been my beef.

You can't expect a young goalie to get better, let alone stay at par, if he is sitting on the bench night in and night out.

And for those that wanted Jospeh back...FYI: CUJO still sucks.

Clearly that's because Murray is terrorized to put him in the nets.

Al-Queda style?
Did someone threaten to go suicide-bomber on his ass if Hannu got another start?

The word you're going for in that situation is 'terrified' not 'terrorized'.
