Don't take this the wrong way, but kind of an odd list there. Best all time over a career, or just with the CBJ? My list with the CBJ (quick and dirty):

Nash
Vybes
Sanderson
Whitney
Wright
Zherdev
Denis
Klesla
Sillinger
Fedorov
Honorable mention: Shelley, Knutsen, Tugnutt, Spacek, Chimera, Malhotra, LeClaire

Like I said, quick and dirty...from memory, really. I would probably switch this around some if I looked at the stats. Gotta look at time here, too, along with intangibles (Shelley). My apologies to any that should be here.

Marchant would not be on my list. I'd replace him with Espen Knutsen and I'd also find a home for Geoff Sanderson.

Something like this:

1. Rick Nash
2. David Vyborny
3. Ray Whitney
4. Adam Foote
5. Pascal Leclaire
6. Ron Tugnutt
7. Geoff Sanderson
8. Espen Knutsen
9. Nikolai Zherdev (he would move way up - probably top 5 - if he continues his stellar season)
10. Rostislav Klesla

This is judging players on their performance for the CBJ. Sydor, Feds, Marchant don't make my list because they've been disappointing while here.

Looks good to me... I'd add:
11. Lyle Odelein

No Lasse Pirjeta?
Good list. Like dru, I'd probably move some people around, but not enough to quibble.

Thats close enough to my list that I won't bother typing it in. Only guy I'd try to work in your list is Tyler Wright.

1. Rick Nash
2. Geoff Sanderson
3. Kevin Dineen (he was the heart of that 1st team!!!!)
4. David Vyborny (hurt by this year)
5. Ron Tugnutt
6. Nik Zherdev
7. Pascal Leclaire
8. Ray Whitney
9. Andrew Cassells
10. Rusty Klesla

Speaking of which. This team needs someone with as much heart as Kevin Dineen. Doesn't seem like we have had that spark since he retired.

Tomi Kallio?
Bill Bowler?
Steve Maltais?

If I broke out my souvenir Inaugural Season game program, I could probably find a few more worthy members of that category.

And yet, relatively speaking, we had a pretty good first year..

I think a lot of credit for the relative first year success the team had can be given to Ron Tugnutt, who you won't ever find on a ten-worst Blue Jacket list. That guy kept the Jackets close in games they had no business being close in.

Very true. I don't remember the details at all, but I remember at the time being really confused as to why we got rid of him.. why DID we do that?

Tugnutt was having injury issues (if I remember correctly), and MacLean felt that it was time to let Denis take over the starting job. As a result Tugger got dealt to Dallas, which I think was his last stop in the NHL.

Overall talent as displayed on our team:

1. Nikolai Zherdev
2. Rick Nash
3. Pascal Leclaire
4. Ray Whitney
5. David Vyborny
6. Andrew Cassels
7. Geoff Sanderson
8. Sergei Fedorov
9. Ron Tugnutt
10. Espen Knutsen

Almost made it:

Fredrik Modin
Fredrik Norrena
Mike Sillinger

Fan-favorites (outside of the top three, which can be moved around at will, this is really up in the air in terms of ranking...which is kinda true of them all):

1. Rick Nash
2. Tyler Wright
3. Jody Shelley
4. Ron Tugnutt
5. Espen Knutsen
6. Geoff Sanderson
7. Manny Malhotra
8. Jason Chimera
9. Pascal Leclaire
10. David Vyborny

Almost made it:

Ray Whitney
Dan Fritsche
Alexander Svitov (YOU HEARD ME)

Importance to the team over their Blue Jackets careers. (Generally, I was thinking, "If we didn't have this player, what would the team have looked like?" Hence the abundance of goalies, even Denis):

1. Rick Nash
2. David Vyborny
3. Ron Tugnutt
4. Geoff Sanderson
5. Ray Whitney
6. Tyler Wright
7. Pascal Leclaire
8. Fredrik Norrena
9. Marc Denis
10. Nikolai Zherdev

Almost made it:

Rostislav Klesla
Jody Shelley
Mike Sillinger
Espen Knutsen

My favorites, for whatever reason:

1. Nikolai Zherdev
2. David Vyborny
3. Alexander Svitov
4. Espen Knutsen
5. Rick Nash
6. Ray Whitney
7. Ole-Kristian Tollefsen
8. Ron Tugnutt
9. Tyler Wright
10. Dan Fritsche

Edit: Forgot to mention that I don't think I included a single defenseman in my lists. We've had some decent ones, but we've always had much better talent in our forwards.
