Yeah, the Wild join the Sharks in the class department. They've come a long ways from the Broten jersey incident.
The games against Minnesota have been ... weird this year. Really no idea what to expect. It'll be good to see Smith again though. He gave up 3 the last time we faced the Wild, but that was after relieving Turco, not starting.
Turco not playing is a huge concern for me, he's been amazing as of late
our loss to Minnesota took place the day after we played in Detroit, Tippet gave Turco both starts (hoping for a rebound game by Turco after a bad time in Detroit) and we ended up getting doubled up by the Wild. This time the team will be well rested and hopefully they'll play better in front of the net. If we could take 2 points from the Wild tonight, it would be a major victory for the Stars in the division hunt, as San Jose went down to Colorado last night.
man the Stars had some good chances there, we really should have scored on that 5 on 3
If Dallas wants to win this game, they will have to stop turning over the puck in the neutral zone. Minnesota has some guys who can make a goal out of nothing, so Dallas can't sit back for even 1 minute.
That being said, I'm happy with our effort in the first period and look forward to seeing the Stars build on it during the second. Get those 2 points Stars! we need them!
I can't describe how enormous those stops by Smith were. Gaborik all alone on a breakaway, with all the momentum ready to swing to the Wild after that abortion of a PP, nothing. Then a tired Modano out there for unknown reasons and Eriksson turning over the puck right at the end of the period and Smith won't yield.
