Mike Modano will be recognized for his contributions to hockey in the United States prior to tonight's 7 p.m. CST game.

this is getting mixed reviews by fans in the twin cities, but i think most see it as a classy move by the organization and will cheer for modano.

Yeah, the Wild join the Sharks in the class department. They've come a long ways from the Broten jersey incident.

The games against Minnesota have been ... weird this year. Really no idea what to expect. It'll be good to see Smith again though. He gave up 3 the last time we faced the Wild, but that was after relieving Turco, not starting.

Turco not playing is a huge concern for me, he's been amazing as of late
our loss to Minnesota took place the day after we played in Detroit, Tippet gave Turco both starts (hoping for a rebound game by Turco after a bad time in Detroit) and we ended up getting doubled up by the Wild. This time the team will be well rested and hopefully they'll play better in front of the net. If we could take 2 points from the Wild tonight, it would be a major victory for the Stars in the division hunt, as San Jose went down to Colorado last night.

I can't get over the fact that Fedoruk plays on the 1st line and gets PP time.

3 great chances so far, Barnes alone on the backdoor, Grossman partial breakaway and Hagman partial break.

Smith surviving some flurries of activity. Fun game, hardly resembles the Stars/Wild games of yore.

Backstrom coming up big for Minnesota on the kill. End of 1, still good to be tied on the road.

man the Stars had some good chances there, we really should have scored on that 5 on 3
If Dallas wants to win this game, they will have to stop turning over the puck in the neutral zone. Minnesota has some guys who can make a goal out of nothing, so Dallas can't sit back for even 1 minute.

That being said, I'm happy with our effort in the first period and look forward to seeing the Stars build on it during the second. Get those 2 points Stars! we need them!

Wild also made a donation to Modano's charity.

Stars seem a little flat this period, although that was a good PK. Hagman with another great chance, but on the backhand.

Modano with a burst of speed, attempts a wraparound, gets hooked on the way around, Stars going on the PP.

Halpern needs to start playing soccer in the hall with the rest of the team, that was an bad time to lose it in your skates.

rather pathetic effort by the Stars so far. we'll need to be one hell of a lot better in the third to win this thing.

great save Smith

I can't describe how enormous those stops by Smith were. Gaborik all alone on a breakaway, with all the momentum ready to swing to the Wild after that abortion of a PP, nothing. Then a tired Modano out there for unknown reasons and Eriksson turning over the puck right at the end of the period and Smith won't yield.

Smith makes the biggest stop of the game, Hagman finally finds the patience to finish. 1-0 Stars.

HAGMAN!

Nobody from the 7th round of the '06 draft has reached the NHL ... nobody here wants a do-over, do they?

Oh yeah, and Nik Hagman is a 20 goal scorer. That's fun just to write.
