All Player Inquiries Go Here

Game coming up against Dallas and you want to know how Modano has been playing lately? Did you draft Zubov in your fantasy pool and need to know how long he'll be injured? Did you go to high school with Matt Niskanen? Are you in a keeper league, and you want to know Mike Smith's long-term potential?

Ask us here.

After I merged it with a thread he asked me to, and everything was out of order because it sorts chronologically, yes.

Hockey team? I didn't realize Dallas had one since the Freeze left town.

Hmmm. I'll have to go check it out and use my reasoning skills to look things up in the future, including posts that might be entitled 'Injury Report,' because I figure if there are injuries that means Dallas has a team.

To be honest, I bet most of us don't read this thread. I know this is the first time I've clicked it since my post the day it was created. I don't care at all about your fantasy hockey needs or you desire for info to help craft worthless trade proposals.

Everytime a random person makes a thread titled "PLAYER NAME", I immediately assume something bad has happened, even if it's just Hab Commander asking if he should dress Hagman or Plekanec on Friday for his fantasy league if he needs powerplay points.

This thread = fewer of those threads

I suspect you want to add guys like halpern rather than get rid of them unless they think he is overpaid and want to free up salary next year. Ryder?

Why does every Stars trade rumor involve either the Habs or the Bolts? These are getting very old.

Do you guys have anyone else who is repeatedly referred to as soft, defensively weak, and a big diver who will come here and score a lot of points? We'll take him.

I wonder if the staff has soured on Halpern? He'll still have 2 more years on his deal after this season, and you'd think the time to trade him, if you wanted to, would be during the summer since his greatest value is during the playoffs as a shutdown guy. He has been sort of shuffled down to the 4th line lately - although part of that is just the way chemistry shakes out with a full forward corps available. Halpern does seem like the type of player that might frustrate Hull, someone with limited creativity and next to no shot. He's managed a decent amount of offense this year largely by deflections.

Halpern was excellent defensively last year and this year. I like him. And he's not horrid on offense. He's cheap. I'm not sure I approve of letting him go. But that depends on the return.

Letting Halpern go would be foolish. There aren't many checking line centers out there who are better or cheaper. He's also our best face-off guy, something we've lacked since forever.

I also thought he was one of our best players during the short, but tough playoff series vs the Nucks last year.

HEIKA: I would go after Ryder. There's something there with this kid. At age 28, he can become an unrestricted free agent, but I still think he could be a long-term acquisition who has solid upside.

He has two seasons of 30 goals behind him, and I'm not sure why he has dried up this season. Mike Modano believes the team needs another right-handed shot, and Ryder is right-handed. He also has a history of producing in the playoffs at a lower level (6-11-17 for Hamilton in 23 games in 2002-03). That was one of the things I liked about Brad Boyes when he was on the market last year.

Like many Europeans, Satan is a left-handed right wing, but if he was on a line with Jere Lehtinen and Modano, Lehtinen (RH) could play the left side, and the two could weave around to find their respective shots. Satan is also an unrestricted free agent, and at age 33 should still have some years left, so he still could be a player who could stick around.

Satan is probably better defensively and better in open ice. Ryder is more of a lurker who likes to uncork his shot. I don't know why I get the feeling that Ryder could just take off if he got in the right situation. I think the Canadiens knew Ribeiro needed to go elsewhere and may feel the same about Ryder. What they have to do with Ryder is get something better than Janne Niinimaa in return. That's where the negotiation would get interesting.
If it was Ryder for Halpern, I don't think it would be a bad deal. Steve Ott can play center, and he has been really good this year. Plus, Joel Lundqvist is another younger, cheaper player that is in the same mold as Halpern. While I really like Halpern, I think it would be okay to take a chance on Ryder.
