and when you think about it.. its amazing that you dont see more injuries from skates cutting people.

Hope he has a full and short recovery.

Always awful to hear about stories like this. All the best to Zednik. I've always liked the guy.

Probably the scariest thing I have seen in my time as a hockey fan (ahead of what happened to Kevin Colley). Thank god it looks like he is going to be okay. It makes me cringe just thinking about it.

Glad to hear he's in stable condition and that the NHL narrowly avoided an unfortunate tragedy.

All the best to a speedy recovery.

Sounds like he's ok at least for the moment which is great news.

I can't believe that both of these incidents have occurred in Buffalo.

The Malarchuck incident was one of the scariest things I've ever seen. Skate blades are scary because the metal is thick and doesn't flex, and the edges can be really sharpened.

Very interesting stuff. And Zed was upgraded to 'Good' condition today. So that's fabulous news!

Know what I find amazing?

Most times when guys get cut in the neck/face area they drop to the ice, one could only imagine how much worse it would have been if Zed did the same. Those few seconds that it would have taken the trainers to get on the ice, might very well have been the difference.

And you know what else bugs me?? I have MSN as my home page and one of the headlines was "NHL SLASH Victim, stable" makes it sound like someone did it on purpose.

No wonder non-hockey fans think the sport is so violent....

SO true.
The headline could have been "Quick action saves teammate's life after injury"
But that is too true and doesnt sound violent enough I guess.

Im very happy that he is doing better, thats wonderful news.

Jesus christ! I heard about that, but took it to mean that they heard noises or whatever and were able to leave before the roof started collapsing. But that was close!! Why didn't those people on the left get out of there much sooner!?! In the end, the way the roof collapsed, they were probably ok, but come on. get the hell out!!

It doesn't look like the roof came down. More like the ceiling sperated from the roof. Obviously still dangerous but not as bad as it could've been.

Yeah at first glance it looked like a snow load got in between the building shell and ceiling which looked to be light weight construction thank goodness.
