wore out his welcome??? Umm, I think Malik is the only one to do that so far. Before his injuries the teams record with him in and out of the lineup was almost jar dropping, he's the heart of the team, plays with real passion, and is one of a very few that isn't as soft as a marshmellow. Avery is a career Ranger in my eyes. Avery, Avery, Avery!!!

Aves HAS YET to worn out his welcome, he is funny, and is pretty much somebody who loves new york and not signing will break his heart, and i can imagine him being sooooo upset if he did leave us, i for one am happy they are considering Aves being signed soooo we can enjoy the many more comedic acts during the game!!

other than Lundqvist the fans chant his name, they dont even do that to Jagr Id rather have Avery as captain over Jagr.

wow, not even close the same type of player pal. Without Avery we don't make the PO's last season, Can you say the same for Hollweg?? I don't think so. Hollweg can't even dance in the same circle as Avery when it comes to off. skills either. He's another role player, and has value to the team, but this isn't the thread for that discussion. THeres a reason one plays on the 4th line and the other on the 2nd.

nope hollweg takes dumb penalties and is an AHL 4th liner at best. id rather have Hossa, Moore, Korpikoski, Byers, Struds on the 4th line over Hollweg.

I would love to see Henrik get locked up as soon as possible, a part of me has been wondering all season of the possibility of Henrik's lackluster performaces have been due to him knowing he is playing this year for a contract?... Just a thought

I for one would be disappointed to see Avery go. Most times when I watch this team I feel like they don't have enough players that play on the edge and Aves is that guy, One thing is for sure is that these games would be a lot more boring to watch without him in it. Another issue with him is that as many have stated he belongs on the 3rd line, yet Renney has used him on the top two lines this year, but that's not Avery's fault. Judging from the goal he scored last game and the nastyness he has shown I don't think that his wrists are a real issue.

Hopefully both are signed very soon and we move on

Good news for Both, Good to see Sather finally had somthing to say

a year year $36mill deal for Lundquist is perfect, good years, money doesn't strangle us.

Avery on a one year deal @ the same amount of $$$ is perfect.

As much as I love Avery, this is coming from the guy who thinks Cally'll be our future captain.

Oh boy...do you mean this seriously?
I hope not.
You have cursed three players so far:
Ortmeyer - he is gone
Adam Hall - played like crap
Callahan - has horrible season so far

Don't you dare to change your nickname to someone else

The Rangers have locked up their franchise goaltender for the foreseeable future.

Henrik Lundqvist and the Rangers have agreed upon a contract that will keep the 25-year-old netminder between the Garden's pipes well past his 30th birthday.

While the length and value of the deal - believed to be for six years at more than $6.5 million per - have been set, there is language in the contract that is still being hashed out. So the Rangers are not expected to make a formal announcement until tomorrow at the earliest
.

The headline says

Henrik Lundqvist, Rangers strike 6-year deal at around $6.5M per year

Dellapina writes more than $6.5 million.Brooks has it at $6 million

Great news IMO.

It could be a very solid contract in say 4-5 years; at the same time its compareable with other star goalies.

Hopefully this puts Lundy back on track. Even though he say's that this pending contract has nothing to do with his lackluster play since December, I'm sure it has to have SOME kind of effect not knowing where you're going to be come next season.

More money then I wanted, but happy to have him for 6 years. My guess is the difference between the Larry & Dellapina's #s is bonus money of some sort.

$6 million.$6.5 million.$3 million difference over a 6 year period. The same $3 million they are paying Paul Mara to masquerade as a NHL defenseman.$500,000 annual difference. It's not that big of deal. However, there will be some howling over the $500,000 difference.

He isn't eligible for bonuses.

1)Entry-level contracts are eligible for bonuses.
2)Players with 400 games of NHL experience who spent 100 days on IR the previous season are eligible for bonuses.
3)Players age 35 or older signing 1 year contracts are eligible for bonuses.

I wonder if the dollars will be front-loaded like Gomer & Drury?

So, there aren't hard-to-reach bonuses anywmore like Conn Smyth, Vezina, or Stanely Cup? Alrighty then.
