It sucks how we have to sit and drop out of the playoffs when WE ARENT EVEN PLAYING! This sucks beyond belief.

it just goes to show that whoever makes the schedule is doing it wrong.

Argh. New Jersey won in OT, Atlanta won in OT, Buffalo won, Boston won and Montreal won in OT.

That's a big whopping 0 right out of 5. I think we're outside the playoffs right now. Even worse, both Boston and Buffalo have 2 more games to play than us. The only fun thing happening tonight was Ovechkin scoring his 48th and Bäckström getting 2 assists.

We really have no one to blame but ourselves for this mess.

The schedule does need to be fixed though

It's simply, Rangers have to WIN games and get on a roll. A big must win on saturday against Buffalo. Rangers play Buffalo (3)times and Boston (1) more time<--these games they have to win!

Well, tonight really sucked, huh?

But honestly, what did everyone expect, Buffalo and Boston to lose all their games, etc etc?

Guys are going to win and it's only our fault.

I like Chris Drury's quote...

"When the season's over we all play 82, and people get crazy about this 'games in hand' thing, you know, we're all going to play 82, and that's all I'm worried about, I'm not worried about scoreboard watching or any of that, just our next 2 points".

New artillery volley tonight:

Tampa Bay(54) - Philadelphia(65)
Wouldn't mind Tampa beating Philly here. Same formula as usual, Tampa is a lower tier team and to top it off, Philly is in our division.

Pittsburgh(69) - Carolina(60)
Pittsburgh is way ahead of us and can continue to be so, as long as they beat teams like Carolina that are threatening us down in the bottom playoff spot fight. Three teams in the SE on 60 points. Let's keep it that way for a while.

Islanders(57) - Toronto(55)
A rather indifferent game, but one more nail in the coffin doesn't hurt. Toronto has the chance to drag Islanders down in the depths along with them.

Hats off to the Pens for at least making a game of late. Didn't expect BUF to lose anyway.

Tell me about it. Every frikkin game was a 3 pointer and every team won that should have lost for the most part.

BUT

There might be a silver lining in this. The Rangers usually play better with their backs against the wall, and if they had got through this still sitting in 7th, they might get a false sense of security. At least they know now that they havent played well enough, they SEE it by looking at the standings. They know they have to do more and show up.

Saturdays game is going to be colossal. Its another one of those big big games.

It will be utterly disappointing if a full 115% effort isn't given for 60 minutes, especially after having a 5 day off period with plenty of time to prepare and right yourself for a playoff run. If they do that and lose, i wont be disappointed. I just wanna see heart from here on out. I want every player to contribute to the team the best ways they can. Jagr scoring, Hank saving, Avery agitating, Shanny leading, Dubinsky hustling, Girardi stickchecking, Tyutin hipchecking, Mara blasting, Straka speeding, Cally forechecking, Betts blocking, Hollweg smashing, so on and so forth...

Lets see what guts this team has. They did it last year.

Hbnyc...

the bad news, though, is a couple teams may pull away and make it a bit tougher to catch. It was a bad night for the Rangers - the wrong teams won, and too many 3-point games. But then again, I think most of us were resigned to the possibility that this team wasn't in a playoff spot due to it playing 2-4 more games than everyone else.

RCallahan - the schedule makers aren't stupid - they're actually quite smart. Try coordinating the schedules of 30 arenas, most if not all of which host other events aside from hockey. Now try to make a schedule out of it.

Yeah, thats why that Buffalo game on Saturday is so big.

Forget the fact that the Rangers need points... the Sabres have to cool down!!

They are 8-0-2 in their last 10 and Miller is playing like a beast. Only solace is that they are a streaky team and can also go 2-7-1 in their next 10. We've seen it happen this year already. The Rangers have to end that hot streak Saturday.

Let's hope...

but we also see that at this time of the year, the better teams start to pull away, and they may be doing this.

Worst loss of the year

IMO

Was that Sunday game at home against Boston, the home and home. They had lost the day before up in Boston in the shootout and they could have really set things apart that day. In fact my fiancee and i went, it was that really cold, windy day.

They played like GARBAGE. It was the worst showing, they just gave up and lost 3-1 (with a very late Dubinsky goal). Renney was really really upset in the press conference after. It was definitely a low point. It was their 8th loss in their last 10.

If they had found a way to win that game, right now the standings would look like this.

7. Rangers - 65
8. Buffalo - 64
9. Boston - 61

Talk about a big point in the season. But just another big IF in a stack of IFs.

Yup...

the home losses against the west coast teams didn't help either.

Boston = 8th
25 GR * 2 = 50 + 1 point to move ahead = 51.

I don't think we have much of a chance at the division.

No one has run away with it yet, and the Rangers (aside from games against the Western Conference) are starting to play better.

It's still a definite possibility.
