Car/Tor Proposal

Hill
for
2nd rd

Teams will be asking to much for bigger named players like Gonchar and Hamilik, so JFJ will just do a minor deal on the back end.

We don't have a pick in round two in 2004.

And I doubt he's going to move high picks for older players.

might as well. you Leaf fans just love trading your 2nd round picks to Carolina for crappy defensemen, don't you?

Hill for a second? No way. Maybe a third.

I don't like his game much though. He'd be a #7 for the Leafs - we'd roll him out for the physical games.

Pierre Lacroix offered a 2nd for Bob Boughner last year.

Wesley and Hill are ahead of Boughner in Carolina.

As a Leaf fan Id do it.

There are other players Id rather see the Leafs get but Hill would be an alright backup plan if the others were to fall through.

agree avs wesley for depth makes perfect sense ...

wesley >>> liles or even skoula for playoffs

but for the original proposal the leafs would not have to pay that much for hill, no fricken way. is he not on a longer deal ? (one or two year).. and ferguson wouldn't risk too much of a draft pick on someone over the last few years has shown that his playing heart is in carolina

Carolina has a bunch of good depth d-men, that should be attractive for playoff teams. I wouldn't mind seeing Avs try to get Boughner. Think he would bring the right attitude and work like an animal to get the cup.

Carolina already has Toronto's 2nd Rounder next year. I know that has already been mentioned, but it seems like nobody mentioned the pick already belonged to Carolina for the loan of Glen Wesley for their playoff run last season.

As for the original deal, i'd have to let the buyer beware on this. Sean Hill has taken some of the most absent minded penalties i've ever seen since last season and i'm not exactly sure why. Maybe it has something to do with him getting older and losing position on his cover quicker but he just hasn't been able to reign himself in on those ridiculous holding calls and penalties like closing his hand on the puck. He has a great point shot, he plays pretty physical, and his defensive positioning is pretty sound. However, he has been known to be an absolute deficiency in the Western conference during his career. After a breakout 40 point season with Carolina, he left and signed with the St. Louis Blues and proceeded to stink up the place, resulting in a trade back to Carolina for peanuts. (Steve Halko, Dave Karpa?)

Anyways, I would think the Leafs would be more interested in Boughner, Hedican, Wesley, and Ward more than they would be in Sean Hill. The price would be comperable as well to the value as you have listed for Hill. I'd recommend that they go after another player on our roster that has proven they can play outside of Carolina and outside of the Eastern Conference.
