Go back and watch the games. He was awful and noticably different from his usual self. Less agressive and less confident with the puck.

Since the Leafs game he looks different out there.I hope it's nothing serious cause we really cannot afford to lose him

why? It was easy to see that he was not at 100%. He also said to wife something like: "the first 50 games are easy to play be after that all your body hurts like hell"

Kovalev wasn't AWFUL in the past games. He was '''OKAY'' while the rest of the team were BAD. But he did lose the puck alot more than before today. I'm suspecting something within his hand or arm.

Agreed. He's still been good, but not the monster Kovalev we saw for the previous 50 games. I figured he was either playing hurt or had gotten hurt from the beating he was taking during the game against the Lightning.

I think the injury is to his thumb or hand.... his wrister doesn't seem as hard as earlier in the year.

Could also explain why on some, but not all PPs he is switching sides with Kosty.... Maybe those are moments when it really acts up, so he tells Kosty to line up in his spot for that wrist shot and he controls the play more down low on the left.

If he really needs rest the best time would be against Columbus and Atlanta in the coming weeks. I really want him to heal.

I think to say he's been awful is really exaggerated dude.

Isn't exaggeration the norm on these boards?

I agree he just doesn't play with this same finishing ability anymore...he seems to have lost some of his stickhandling.

Get well soon Kovy!

Reminds me his smile after the one-timer slapshot OT winner goal vs Toronto 2 years ago. Right after that game, they announced that he needed like 1 month off for his knee... And an horrible collapse occurred.

So yeah, thanks for turning that "good team spirit" picture into some strange, reminiscent, prediction of doom.

Well, injuries like Kovy's and Hammer's flu have one pretty good side affect to them.

It will force the youngsters to up their ggame and pick off the slack... give them more responsibility. It will take some games to get ajusted, but I'm not worried the least.

I concur.... that's probably why he gets called "you-know-who" around the board.
