Zholtok

What seems to be the problem with Sergei?

HMMM, let me think. Soft, soft, and yes, soft. Would compliment Darby real well.

Hey, you must have missed his fight with Ruutu - he really let the pesky Finn have it with several brilliant fact shots to Ruutu's fist.

Not to mention he just got back from that heart problem...

Two words: Career Year

Which signals last year with the Wild.

So there is no way, he will play with Wild next season?

Does anyone have any ideas, which team would want him for the next season?

I don't think it's a sure-thing that he's gone, but I'm sure it's weighing on his mind. Seems like he's got whatever most of the other guys on the team have. Some sort of mental block when it comes to being creative with the puck. Almost everyone's timing is off, or something.

I agree ceber. He's playing very tenatively. I think the Doug will try to move him at the deadline and won't get any takers and we won't resign him.

Too bad you all feel this way - Sergei has usually been one of my favorite Wild, and when he's on his game, one of the few who actually seems to want the puck and be able to do something with it as opposed to dumping it in. The play he made setting up Brunette's series winning goal vs. Colorado is what I'm thinking of.

I think the team first mentallity might have something to do with it also. It seems like like when a couple of guys slump(Gaborik, Dupuis, Bouchard, etc), the whole team follows suit. Sergei isn't blessed with outstanding playmaking ability anyway, IMO. This is a time when a Cliff Ronning or some type of veteren leader with a strict offensive game could really help out a lot. Not that any one guy could make a real difference anyway...

I would be very surprised to not see Zholtok back next season. Lemaire and Risebrough have repeatedly commented that he is our only offensive-oriented center. They are not going to let Bouchard have that role quite yet, and Koivu is not playing that style right now either. For a team with so little offense, Zholtok is a commodity.
