would you make this deal

This is not a rumour , a bunch of hab fans had a few beers and we talked about our biggest need , which is a top center, and who might be available and realistic trade values. This is the one we had that most agreed would make sense for both teams .

Do you make this trade

MTL- gets Ollie Jokinen

TB- gets Higgins, Streit, Subban , and our first pick in 2008

We get the 80 point center we need , they get a good puck mover, a legit prospect and a pick , and possibly some cap relief.

IMO that's too much to pay for Jokinen.

definitely way too much for Jokinen...

a leader on the team, our most VERSATILE player (who im sure Gainey and Co would love to ink long term), a very good (potentially) D prospect and a first rounder in what is being hyped up as being a very GOOD and DEEP draft?

pass

value wise, I think it's not too bad... I love Higgins, and I think Subban will be a gem, but Jokinen is a legit superstar who has produced consistently despite being surrounded by a lot of weak talent. He's on a very manageable contract, and I think he'd thrive going to a team destined for the playoffs... a hard decision to make, and I'd probably err on the side of caution and not move so many assets, but i wouldn't be upset if I heard this trade announced.

the only problem is where does that leaves us depth wise?

do you then move Koivu to the wing?

It would make little sense to move either of them to a "checking line" centre role, and we don't have the wingers to go with 3 "scoring" lines like the sabres did last year...

kost-pleks-kovy
kost js- jokinen- ryder
dandy- koivu- lats??? (if koivu isn't pouting now, he sure would be if he got played like this)
