Just for the talk , what do you think about the signing of Hossa , considering the old rumour of Koivu that didn't wanted to play with his brother few years back ?

I can imagine gainey saying to Koivu ; - " we finally sign one of the best wing of the NHL in Hossa , but too bad for you , i doesn't want to play on your line "

Please , don't take that post and that rumour too seriously !
Koivu's english isn't that bad.

Islanders or Devils, maybe? The Devils are doing pretty well; I think the Isles would be more likely to want him, but do they have anything Atlanta would want/need? Also, would Hossa want to go there? They're really a borderline playoff team (again). I don't know either team's cap situation.

i agree, i didnt translate my thoughts well, what i meant is this is the perfect time to do it as we are in good position to finish in the top 4 of the conference and our youngsters have value.

Not really. Why would San Jose trade Marleau for a rental?

And Cheechoo's value is pretty damn low right now, although he does make only 2.5M..

By assets I see someone like Carle, Pavelski, Bernier, etc.

And no, from Atlanta's PoV I think they'd rather have Pavelski than Higgins. And I really doubt that Bob is offering Higgins for a rental honestly..

Hossa might really like NY, but will they have the cap space to sign him? They already locked up huge salaries up front and in the net with Gomez, Drury and Lunqvist. If I was Sather I'd rather get help on Defence to let this offense really express itself. Moreover, Jagr is still signed for one more year at 4.5M, and Shanahan can probably play one more season.

Atleast he was on a TOP Contender team, now Atlanta lets face it they have 3 good players. Kari Leht, Ilya Koval, and Hossa. They are not going anywhere with that roster, sure Recchi was a nice touch, but definately not a finishing touch. Hossa to Habs would get him that ring he is missing on his finger. As for Free Agents, well if we needed some they wouldn't hesitate to come here, last year we did pretty bad, and we weren't very attractive as a team looking for UFAs, if we land Hossa and have a great season, we will look much better and a more desirable team to play on.

I agree. I just reported what i have heard

But like LilWinger said , it may be the Devils or the Islanders.I seriously doubt it's the Isles but i wouldn't be surprised if he had an interest for the Devils.
