THE OFFICIAL:this is how offense should look

k

After the recents success of my topic about defense, i found good to make a topic for the offense lines

WITH WHAT WE GOT, what our lines should be in offense until the trade deadline

My Opinion

Jimmy-Pleky-Kovy
Billy-Koivu-Higgins
Tender-Chip-Thestone
Dandy/begin-Smoke-Kostopoulos

1st line: DA BOMB
2nd line: a good combination of players when we see koivu showing some signs of life lately
3rd line:pretty 2 ways line that can be used anywhere
4rth line: energy line PKillers pretty okay

If the stone is Lappy then yes i agree with your line-up, all that we're missing is a goon IMO

Yeah....who is Billy, Jimmy and TheStone? None of those names are on the Habs roster so we have to assume that you are predicting a trade to get these players???

The lines I would use are....

A.Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Kovalev
Higgins - Koivu - S.Kostitsyn
Latendresse - Lapierre/Chipchura - Ryder
Dandenault - Smolinski/Chipchura - Kostopoulos

Begin would be gone because he can't stay healthy, and when he is healthy, he doesn't produce any points. Anybody can kill penalties, so he's not needed there either.
Smolinski would be put on waivers because he is a waste of space. He is taking icetime from young players who could do as good a job or better than him.

I don't know thestone and I don't like your lines. It is almost identical to what it is now except, you just added Chip and thestone...

Mine would be:

Higgins - Plekanec - Kovalev
S.Kostitsyn - Koivu - A.Kostitsyn
Latendresse - Smolinspuke - Lapierre
Begin - Chipchura - Kostopoulos

Markov - Komisarek
Hamrlik - O'Byrne
Streit - Gorges

Huet
Halak

Yep agree we should stick to real names, or cool nicknames.

Most of these nicknames just have a "y" added to them. I mean if people can't come up with proper nick names anymore than just use their real name.

1st line: Higgins - Koivu - A. Kostitsyn
2nd line: S. Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Kovalev
3rd line: Smolinski - [Def. Center] - Kostopolous/Begin
4th line: Streit/Lapierre - Chipchura - Latendresse

[Insert Peca, or Stoll, or insert Halpern in Smolinski's place and have the latter play center.]

1st line: I think Andrei would be more dynamic as a Right Wing, and would be able to finish Koivu's plays a bit better than his brother. No reason to get rid of the Higgins/Koivu combo, as they've impressed me the last few games.

2nd line: Obviously keep the Plekanec/Kovalev combo, as those two are money together. I think Sergei wouldn't be out of place on that line, and he should be able to fulfill the role that his brother has played up until now.

3rd line: Assuming we get one of Peca or Stoll, we'll have two centers on our shut down line, for draws. Halpern will be a body willing to block shots, like Kostopolous. Smolinski, despite wearing goat horns for much of the season, has been fairly good since his injury (especially on faceoffs).

4th line: Two looks for the kid/energy line. You can either have Lapierre on the wing, where he belongs IMO. Or you can have a former defenseman that makes more sense as a forward. If Lapierre is on the wing, you'll once again have two centers capable of taking draws. Streit and Chipchura would give a more defensive look to the line. Latendresse is crucial if you wish to create energy, as his boardwork is phenomenal. This line would be used in a limited role, especially late in a game assuming it's Lapierre/Chipchura/Lats, due to inexperience. Streit/Chipchura/Lats would take up a more defensively responsible energy line role.

Begin would likely be used as a 13/14th forward, with Dandenault traded (I think it'll happen anyway). If Begin is in the lineup, use him in place of Kostopolous. Obviously Ryder would be traded for that last piece on the shut down line.
