does lindros concussion force NYR to rebuild....

I would say yes---lindros was sathers centerpiece to build the team around, and if he is done, or not the same if he manages to come back, i think sather will consider shipping pieces for playoff contenders. (bc we all know that this will ruin the team in many ways-as darren pang said last night).

is now a good time to rebuild, if we lose the majority of our next 10 games?

It shouldn't..

in Sather's mind. If he wasn't rebuilding before, he ain't rebuilding now.

Exactly, the Rangers don't rebuild, they ________.

Alright people, best fill in the blank wins...if we're gonna suck, lets at least have fun with it!

Haven't we learned anything?

If this is long-term then get ready for Jamie Lundmark and a 2nd for Lang.

You just can't rationalize acquiring for Jagr, then 6 days later announce that you're rebuilding. The trade put Sather in too deep to go back now IMO. No sense in even hoping.

The words "rebuild" and "Rangers" will never, ever be used in the same sentence.

Of course, this team should have been rebuilding all along but each year Sather makes another grand bonehead move (Lindros, Bure, Kovalev and now Jagr) which puts him in deeper and deeper and mandates (in his and DOlan's eyes) that no rebuilding can take place and that the carefully put together juggernaut must stay together--at the least...I truly think this year will be the worst as Sather drops the other shoe by trading youngsters/picks for a marginal vet or two...

All ranger fans know there will be no rebuilding before Sather and Dolan's time is done---which may not be in our lifetime..

Ding, ding, ding. Exactly right, MJ. This is still a team that has Jagr, Kovalev, Nedved, Holik, Leetch, Poti, etc. Who is rebuilding?

It should but it won't. Honestly if you're looking and hoping for the start of an honest rebuilding this season, you really need to hope for a string of devastating injuries. That's an awful thing to wish for, but only the season-long loss of Lindros, Leetch, Dunham, Kasper, and one of Jagr/Kovalev/Holik along with lesser injurues to several role players would force Sather to concede the season. Injuries in that quantity and to that degree simply couldn't be made up through trades and call-ups. Sather would be forced to call it quits and look to next year.

The problem with that scenario is that Sather definitely comes back next season. If that many critical components are lost for good, Dolan has the perfect rationalization for bringing back Sather in either or both of his current capacities.

Especially when you can trade Nedved, Lundmark, and a first for Federov!

so in typical rangers fashion, instead of just admitting that you made a mistake and correcting the problem, you follow up 1 mistake with 25 more and put yourself deeper in the whole...

but who ever said that a rebuild meant you had to have 20 rookies and finish in last place?? if you surrounded jagr, holik, rucinsky, barnaby, leetch, de vries, and kasparaitis with youngsters like moore, lundmark, ortmeyer, murray, tyutin, lampman, jessiman, etc then the team would be just as competetive as it is now, and most likely MORE competetive and you would be rebuilding
