Prediction-$2.25-2.5 million per for Tyutin.

He is 3 years away from group III UFA status.

Keith Ballard-2 years/$4.55 million

Anton Volchenkov-3 years/$7.5 million

I'm loving this. Sather is definitely locking these guys up early so that he will have a better idea of what his cap situation will be next year prior to making any trades. This indicates to me that the organization believes it can make noise in the playoffs THIS year, and I am excited and hopeful that they are right.

Great news. Tyutin is a good player for us and can only get better. 2.5 seems very fair to me.

Hopefully we can sign him to an afordable long term deal, because i think tyutin sill hasnt reached his potential and if we sign him to a short term deal hes going to want the big bucks later on.

Not disagreeing with you, but that would have Staal, Tyutin, and Girardi both becoming RFA's in the same year. I think Sauer will be an RFA too since he signed his entry level contract before the beginnig of this season. If all three continue to develop at the current pace and Sauer lives up to his potential, things could get interesting. I'm not saying the Rangers are screwed with the contracts they have on the books now and what all 4 could be making in two years, but that could be quite a few key players that need to be re-signed in the same year.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm betting Tyutin is signed for 3 years. My guess is if it is 2 years than 2.1 mill per year, and if 3 years 2.4 mill per year.

With Toots re-signed, that leaves Dawes, Moore, Parentaeu, Montoya, Hossa, and Baranka as the only RFA's left.

I say Dawes is next!

Dawes I'm worried about. I could definitely see him demanding a gaurentee to have a roster spot next season, which I could easily see Glen denying. I hope we get him signed. Moore won't have much leverage because nobody is really going to sign him to an offer sheet. I say we can sign him to a 2 way deal around 525K in the NHL. Baranka should get similar, maybe more. 2 awy contract worth 600K in the NHL. Parentaeu can take an AHL contract or he can walk. Hossa is gone.

Montoya is a tricky one. I have no idea how this will end. He could be traded at the deadline, or resigned to a monster contract only to play in the AHL. Letting him walk to through RFA might be an option if we feel the compensation is enough.

The re-signing of Hossa depends on whether or not his brother signs here

But why would Dawes need to worry about a spot next year? I mean he's pretty much got one now...and we're certainly going to have some turnover this summer. If anything, he looks like a pretty sure bet to have a roster spot next season.

i dont believe so. imho hes a superb 4th liner, id give him Hollwegs job asap. He kills penalties, is strong defensively, and controls the puck like a bull in the corners. Having your 4th line pin the opposition in their own zone for shifts on end can be highly useful in wearing them down. Hossa can do that by himself at times.

I somewhat agree.

It is a VERY smart business move to at least sign Marcel to a one year deal.

Having Marcel on board does two things:

1) is a HUGE lure for Marian.
2) he provides VERY sound defense.

It really is a win/win situation. Especially because he will come cheap anyway, so it wouldn't be a detriment as far as cap room goes.
