All Bertuzzi is when the gloves come off is raw strength Mellanby threw a few and tried to land but Bertuzzi kept him locked out.

Thornton redeems himself tonight.......

I hope the fight sites put that one up, IMO he gets the Decision over Laraque. The Uppercut at the end seals the deal. I'm a hawks fan and don't wanna make the homer call.....

I went this season to all but 1 of the open training camp sessions... And thornton for a tough(er) guy can play some. He should have been up all year. I really wanted to see him against a real NHL heavy, and he more than held his own. In camp he played on a line with Sullivan and McLean- before blowing out his hamstring.

To be honest I'm surprised... But maybe Laraques *has* lost something with the gloves off?

I think he has and that isnt meant to take anything away from Shawn Thornton, but Georges hasnt fought much this year and I think to stay sharp you have to be active.

Anyone else notice that Bertuzzi is a bit of a seatbelt when he fights? I have yet to see him in a fiht with more then 10 punches thrown....

Bertuzzi said in a interveiw once that he doesn't want to break his hand on someone's head, so he rarely throws haymakers. The only reason he fights is to stand up for himself or honor his teammates. I don't know why he even bothers to fight, its really not worth it.

Bertuzzi is strong but he's not a fighter. Besides, he's the highest paid player on a moderate Canucks' payroll and they just can't afford to have him injured.

It's not like the 'Nucks have an extra 30 million dollars to toss about ala Avs & Co.

No matter what he says I think it comes down to the simple fact that he is a very good player but a ****ty fighter.

Zids threw a flurry early Nash tied him up and threw some good ones to the back of Zids helmet and neck, then Zids threw some to the back of Nash's head, neither of them can fight all that well, Nash is 5" taller and 25 pounds heavier and labeled a "powerforward" he should have handled this fight easily, he didn't.

Here's hockeyfights recap.

Comments: Zidlicky has Nash bent over early and throws a few right uppercuts. Nash then starts to take over and throws a few. Nash gets his right out of his jersey and tags Zidlicky with a nice one to the face, but Zidlicky doesn't look phased. They then hold on for the linesmen to come in.

I love the way Darren Langdon fights. He's so patient, so the fights often last more than 1 minute. There's always some good punches landed both ways.

Iginla got knocked out by midget Tootoo. Does that make Iginla not a power-forward? Didn't think so

Who wants to punch someone in the visor? I have no problem with players wearing a visor, but if youre going to include fighting in your game, you should take it off first. Riech was busy trying to get the helmet off and got clocked. I would like to see him be able to take more than one punch though. Especially from Tootoo.
