Roenick Back in Town

Okay so I am getting real sick and tired of all these DUMB threads about how this guy sucks and blah blah blah.

So I thought I would shake it up a bit by mentioning that J.R. will be back in town this Thursday (just got my tix, its my friends favorite player all-time). How do you fell about this and do you still like the guy?

Feel free to even share your favorite moments of Roenick.

yeah, i was on a toronto thread about favorite goals. that was mine--i got banned.

would've loved to have him as our forth line center, as he is my favorite player. he can still bring it, and would be great in our locker room.

favorite moment though? the above goal, in LA when he and luc robitaille went out and danced, and any of the times he was on best damn sports show

and i'm calling 4-3 flyers win on thursday since i'm going. JR w/ the natural hatty

One of my all-time favourite NHL'ers, no matter which jersey he's wearing.

The league needs more guys like JR -- funny as hell, great player, wears his heart on his sleeve, and tells it like it is.

You're right... Ovechkin already has the personality and the charm. And he loves to play.

JR will allways be one of my favorites.
That goal against the Leafs was one of my top 5 Flyer moments of recent memory the other being Primeau in game 6 to force OT in 04.

I love JR in a non gay way. I'll be at the game and I can't wait for him to come back. I'm hoping everyone will cheer him when he has the puck.

Was one of my favorite players before he even came to the Flyers....was a Chicago fan back in the day because of him (although it pained me to route for a team with Chelios on it)

The NHL needs more guys like this that they can market the hell out of and it will help the sport grow. If I were the NHL, I would be pushing Ovechkin really hard to perfect the english language...

I still love the quote about him, I believe it was Hitchcock, that said "There is no speed bump between his brain and his mouth"

Considering I am the same way (I am sure that comes as a surprise to everyone) I loved it!!! Of course, when it gets me in trouble in work, it isnt so fun

JR v. Patrick Roy one of my favorite exchanges between athletes ever. Unfortunatley Roy wins. I don't think JR loses to many verbal battles.
Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Roy
In the 1996 Western Conference semi-finals between the Colorado Avalanche and the Chicago Blackhawks, Jeremy Roenick was stopped by Roy on a break-away during OT in game 4, while apparently being tackled by an Avalanche player. The referees did not call for a penalty shot on the play and the Avalanche won in triple overtime on Joe Sakic's game winning goal. Earlier in game 3, Roenick scored on an unchallenged breakaway to tie the score at 3 and send the game to overtime; the Blackhawks ended up winning the game.

After game 4, Roenick told the media "there should have been a penalty shot [on the play]. I like Patrick's comment when he said he could have stopped me [on the breakaway]. I'd like to know where Patrick was in Game 3, probably up trying to get his jock out of the rafters." Roy retorted with his now-famous line, "I can't really hear what Jeremy says, because I've got my two Stanley Cup rings plugging my ear." [6]

Roy and the Avalanche beat the Blackhawks in 6 games and went on to win the Cup.
