Hasn't happened yet. I think they'll keep dressing 7 D until Hatcher or a forward is healthy.

Well, now with Vandy gone, I would do:

Timonen Kukkonen
Coburn Modry
Jones Smith
Parent (Called up when needed)

I hate that it's official, but I'm glad he's not going to try to come back. Take the next few months to recover fully, and get ready for next season (please God).

Fine for now, but when Hatcher is back Kukkonen's watching from the stands.

Timonen-Coburn
Kukkonen-Jones
Smith-Modry

I think smith is wearing down and modry is still a question mark. i send parent back down so we still have three years on his rookie contract

I'd worry about the mobility of a Smith-Modry pairing.

modry to the second pairing w/ kukkonen and jones w/smith then. i really don't care about the bottom four.

the point i'm trying to indicate w/ my pairings is our only two d-men capable of extended minutes should be on a top pairing and eating minutes. no way kukkonen belongs on the first pairing, i don't care what anybody says.

IMO, I don't think the flyers are going to let Parent stay up for the max games before he eats a year off his rookie contract. That being said, in 5 games or so, when that 10th game comes around, Parent is going to be sent back down. Just hopefully by then hatcher will be back, or another move will have been made, brad stuart anyone?
until then though...
Timmonen-Modry
Coburn-Smith
Jones-Kukkonen
Not that this is what I want to see, but I'm pretty sure its what we'll see.

Timonen - Coburn
Smith - Kukkonen
Modry - Jones

As much as I love Smith's attitude and leadership, I'd rather see us get something in return for him with a trade than let him walk away this summer. If we do trade him, I'm thinking Modry would move up to 2nd pairing and Parent would stay up. Wishful thinking.

Does the 10 game rule matter at all? He's already playing professionally (for money), I thought that rule only applied if he was going back to junior.

Are you taking into account that Derian Hatcher will be out of action for at least another 2 weeks? Why would Parent get sent down? Especially with Vanduuuuhmeer gone?

I think Coburn deserves a top pairing spot. However the way we are currently constructed I don't think the team can do that.
Timmo - Kukks
Coburn - Modry
Jones - Smith

if Smith goes:
Timmo - Modry
Coburn - Parent
Jones - Kukks

I think with what we have a typical top pairing doesn't really work.

Timonen and Kukkonen weren't so good together earlier in the season. Kukkonen isn't physical enough to keep opposing forwards honest w/ Timonen.

Bill Meltzer has a good take on the trials and tribulations of finding a partner for Timonen at http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=13471

I apologize if posting a link to HB is frowned upon - I know many here are not fans. The only thing I can say in its defense is that Meltzer has been the Flyers blogger for the past month+ and he is excellent.

There's a lot of good content over there, especially Bill's blog, it's just the Eklund trade rumours that people frown upon.

I disagree but there are some soft teams that really need his services come playoff time that might be willing to overpay for a UFA that we are virtually guaranteed not to sign (or even make a realistic offer to).
