Alot of people have high expectations for Brassard, and I'm of no exception. Brass is my favorite prospect that's already been drafted. I still think the latter games he played with us, he was one of the better players on the ice, but apparently Hitch thought differently. Not the first time I've disagreed with him, but I digress. Anyway, here's to him being a full time center next season. Yes, I bumped this thread, because I'm still razzled Brass got sent down...

It didn't shock me. He looked better than Brule at the start of the season but I still think he was "thinking the game" instead of reacting. I think he should have stayed down the whole season.

I agree, but once he's up, I think he should have stayed up...

He shouldn't stay up if he doesn't deserve to be here. He is not the only player to get a few games in the NHL only to be sent back down...see Radulov, Alexander.

lulz, what part of what I said, didn't you grasp. He's consistantly proven that he's one of the better players on the ice, in the later games. he made some gorgeous passes, absolutely stunning. How Hitch took the Snakebitten Brule over Brassard, who as far as I can see, has only been physical, is beyond me.

The part when you said "once he's up, I think he should have stayed up"...lulz.

Brassard is one of my favorite prospects on the Jackets. The guy has mad skills. But he gets pushed around because he isn't strong enough. He has one goal and one assist in 17 games, he had been a healthy scratch and was not playing or he was playing limited minutes. Hitch's job is to win games. He doesn't think he's ready and won't play him higher up in the lineup. There's nothing wrong with sending him back to the Cuse so he can play 20 minutes a game. This also has nothing to do with Brule. I think he should be back there too.

He will make it next year and so will Jakub Voracek...

I believe they sent him back down to make sure he gets good ice time....

Just a few years ago, the big question for "next year" was if you could stand the smell of the Fairgrounds Coliseum to watch a Chill game. Now, I'm looking forward to watching NHL hockey at the Arena, next year. No "dread" here!

And playoff experience. I would like to have seen him centering Nash or Zherdev the rest of the season, but anything short of that in Columbus is worse for him developmentally than top line time in the AHL with the playoffs coming up.

Dunno, while I would like to see the "Kids" get NHL minutes, I wonder if it wouldn't be better for them to be in a Playoff Hunt in Syracuse. It's probably better to have every shift of every game be important, than it is to play in the NHL for "pride"

Brassard is right behind Russell, imo, as players that will be huge for us next year. I think a Zherdev-Brassard-Voracek has the makings of a solid 2nd line. I can honestly see Brass getting 50 points next year as he will surely see some pp time.

I think the reason Brass went back to the Cuse was for more playing time. I agree that he had been playing a little better, but I don't think he had progressed enough yet to earn more minutes.

I think GMSH wants him to get lot's of minutes and that wasn't happening here. I think playing more in the Cuse will benefit Brass and help him be a better player next year.

Hmm, I agree... He made some amazing moves when I got to see him play but I just found that he was not quite ready for the big game yet.... I also hate seeing such a good players (or future prospect) only getting 5 minutes a game....

The CBJ are still in the playoff hunt. I realize Brule may only have 80 or so more games than Brassard but it is still more experience and considering he still only gets 10 min per night I don't think Hitch wants 4-6 guys on the roster in a playoff chase who can only provide 10 min per night.

He has a ton of potential and will be a solid contributor for years to come but he's not ready this year and does not bring much of a physical game. Since Brule's return he has been a much more solid contributor and has that physical edge back.

It's good for his development. He needs to play if he's going to be a top line center.
