I don't think he'll ever be strong (and maybe durable) enough to handle the kind of minutes and opposition that a #2 slot carries with it.

I think Gorges' upside is a #4. Gorges is playing really well in limited minutes. If you up his minutes he may not do as well or hold up as well through the whole game.
