Tanguay Rumors

If Bob is taking with Sutter about Tanguay what do you think the proposal is....

I think it could be Tanguay for Ryder + Ryan White + 3rd.

If I'm Sutter I ask for

Ryder + Ryan White + Valentanko + 2nd

or

Ryder + Chipchura

I don't trade Ryder straight up for Tanguay.

I personally think we're looking at Langkow from the Flames if it's anybody.

That's out of left field. He's actually one player I haven't heard spoken about in trade rumours.

Honestly that is the player I had always hoped they were targetting, but with the Pleks line finally clicking I'm thinking BG may be trying to find a solution for the Koivu line. Unless Lamgkow can play on the wing.

The only reason Prospal is any good is because he get to ride the Lecavalier/St-Louis line... lol

I'll take Tanguay over him anyway day of the week and twice on Sundays!!

Perhaps he can. Maybe Koivu can play on the wing. Maybe Koivu can move to the third line and also play on the PP. Lot's of possibilities.

He's UFA and although Sutter won't give up on the season, it's possible he'll move him. I think the asking price with the Flames involves Chipchura because of the familiarity they have with him. I think moving Chips for a rental is too much.

I like Langkow, but I don't think Sutter would give him up heading into the playoffs. Besides Iginla and Phaneuf, he's probably the next most valuable player on their team.

Please don't say that...

As for the question, I'd say no for the 2 "Sutter proposals" but Ryder, White and a 3rd, I would...

...and as a Plan B if Hossa isn't trade here first...

I agree with you on Chips.

If Chips is going the other way then we should be getting way more than a rental.

As a rental I wouldn't mind Prospal if we could get him for cheap. But no way I want that guy signed to a contract extension. Take a look at his stats, one good year followed by a bad one seems to be his career MO. Since this is his good year, it's probably a good chance he will continue the pattern and he will follow up this season with a bad one.

I want Hossa too, but if I had to choose between Tanguay and Prospal. My vote would be for Tanguay, he's a lot more consistent.

That's a function of bad chemistry on the 2nd line mostly. That line needs Ryder or Lats(or another guy that shoots a lot).

Tanguay is overrated! He never scored 30 goals in a season, something Ryder did in the last 2 years! Why trade Ryder (12 goals?) for Tanguay who also has 12 but is more expensive!

No thank you!

Since the lock-out, Joe Thornton never scored 30 goals too...

I think what he's looking at in Tanguay (if Tanguay is actually being targetted) is a little more consistency and play making ability. I just don't like the contract for what he brings.

I think his 80 assists per season compensate for the lack of goals

I'm trying to get my head around what moves would make sence for both teams.

I don't like either of my "Sutter proposals" but I think Calgary (and Keenan) wants to move Tanguay.

Alex has a NTC so they have to accomadate him. Where does he want to go. If Mtl and say the Avs are the only two spots, Sutter is in a tough position if he wants to move the contract. I get your point but if I'm Sutter I press hard for one of the two western kids.

I don't like the idea of 2-3 months of Hossa or Sundin for a big chunk of our young roster players + prospects plus 1st round picks. We have a great chemistry on this team now, one that hasn't been there in 15 years so why gut it for a rental.

Anyway thanks guys I was just wondering how other fans felt.

Then, don't use the 30 goals argument, please...

Did you see both Tanguay goals yesterday? He had the 1st star too...

Ryder and Tanguay aren't that far apart in terms of what they bring to the table. The only difference is that Tanguay is the playmaker vs. Ryder being the goalscorer. Tanguay is a little more defensively aware but Ryder is more physical. I really think its close to a wash. I know people point to Tanguay's points and they are impressive but he's played with franchise level players his entire career. I'm pretty sure Ryder's numbers would've been a lot better had he played with Forsberg, Sakic and Iginla type guys.

Tanguay is good and he can help us, but he makes 2.5 million more than Ryder does and is at least a little overpaid. I wouldn't mind trading Ryder for him but throwing in Chipchura is ludicrous. I think if anyone throws anything into the deal it should be the Flames. Tanguay isn't happy there and they're looking to deal him. He shouldn't be that expensive. Both players are struggling and Pierre Maguire even said last night that Ryder would probably be an offensive upgrade for the Flames. (Clip is on the TSN site today) So why are we throwing in the extra pick here?
