You could start with
Morris + Hejduk and u might even have to throw in Tanguay to get them to listen on any offer for Pronger and if u want Demitra too.....

Tanguay + Hejduk + Morris + Foote/straskins + Col 1st.

so trust me that you won't want them

Using that logic, I am sure that Vancouver could use a few of the Avs' players without giving up anything of value... so that would be...

Naslund-Morrisson-Bertuzzi
Sedin-Sedin-Forsberg
Kariya-Sakic-Hejduk
Worrel-Cooke-Linden

Jovanovski-Blake
Ohlund-Foote
Morris-Sopel

Aebisher-Cloutier

Man! It`s great to be able to acquire stars without giving up anything!

as far as the Blues missing the playoffs...

IMO the Blues will still make the playoffs despite their injuries. Just too much talent, grit, experience, tradition and a great coach.

My prediction: 6th in the west.

They may make trades but it will be to solidify a playoff spot not as a firesale.

I wonder if he is having a piss at some of you blues fans by this whole thread. There have been many ignorant trade proposals by blues fans of late (not that they have the lock on that because all of us do it, just more from the blues lately) and one in particular that got a bit pissy yesterday where it suggested that the Kings, a team that is ahead of the Blues in the standings, were out of the race and should dump some of its players to the blues for no value at all. (you know them kind of proposals)

I have to wonder if there is any real merit to it at all. Also, after the Blues rubbish play of last night where I saw two intent to injure attacks by them, maybe he were just a bit mad. I think the blues will make the playoffs. I think they will trade away some picks and solid young lads to try and prop up what vets they have and will have a go at it. I don't see them as a legitimate team unless they get a real goalie but then again, I am a Kings fan and I would say that the two teams have equal shots at making the finals so I am already daft.

Degroat, there will always be some fans who reach for the white flag at the first sign of adversity. Just be thankful that they are just Blues fans and not the players.

Already over the course of this season, we've seen chicken-little proclamations that the Isles were finished, the Stars, the Sens (yes, the Sens!) and the Kings, among others.

Chances are at least 50-50 Q won't be coach by Thursday, and shortly after Osgood and Demitra may be gone.

Depending on Lindros' condition, I could see Sather making a play for Weight. Hell Jamie Lundmark is just burning a hole in his pocket (no I'm not proposing a Lundmark for Weight deal).

Weight for Lundmark and Poti.

Done. I'd throw in Walker too.

I could certainly see something like that happen. I'm sure Sather would jump at that.

As a hockey fan first - I want to see the Blues make the playoffs to continue the longest consecutive playoff streak in pro sports! ( I am pretty sure it is all sports).

I said earlier in this thread I expect the Blues will still make the playoffs.

I do not see them doing a firesale at all. Rather they will make a trade or two to bolster their roster for a playoff run.

Shawn Belle should fetch something pretty good. Ditto for Mclement. And there are always draft picks.

It's not going to rebuild. Just because one poster hasn't much patience, decides to solicit bids for a fanciful rebuild that will not be happening, and people decide to oblige him, doesn't matter a whit. The fact that the Blues are currently sitting in ninth doesn't matter a whit either. In the long run, their talent and solid coaching will get them in the playoffs over the teams that are playing above themselves right now. It's an overreaction to a slump.

Sorry but you still are. What's funny is how you ignore the dozen or so messgages from many respected posters here telling you you're crazy and that the Blues will make the playoffs. Plus on top of that, how do you have a firesale with players that have huge contracts and no-trade clauses?

Keep deluding yourself, degroat. The team has a cancer and is not pulling out of it without major changes.

They WON'T make the playoffs without major changes. Starting with firing Q. I'm prepared to make that statement right now. And how can you be so sure Laurie won't decide to rebuild? Granted Tkachuk and Weight won't be easy to move, but I'm sure a few takers could be found.

If that were true, the slump would already be over. Q has been preaching for 2 weeks now with little effect. If this is only a slump, I'd hate to see a downright collapse.

Really?

Have I done a Rip Van Winkle and slept through the winter? Is it now April, and is the season over, then, so that the Blues now have no opportunity whatsoever to turn things around and salvage something out of this situation?

Maybe it's just me, but I'd say that a person is pretty pathetic when he or she gloats over the poor play of a team that they purport to be a "fan" of.

Whoop-de-doo, you're "right" about the Blues not playing well -- at the moment. I'm glad to see that it brings you so much pleasure to be "right" at the cost of misfortune to the team that you allege to be a supporter of...

Yes, Mike, the Blues are in a slump. A damn bad one. But the "fire sale"you propose:

1). Is not going to happen.

2). Would be a really, really, really bad idea even in the virtually impossible event that it were to occur.

The one pearl in this whole bucket of hog slop is that I actually agree with you that getting rid of Quenneville right now may be the best thing for the Blues; it's pretty evident that he's lost the team.

As for the rest of your fearless forecast... what is to be gained by trading Osgood? Anyone who would be "better" is also going to cost twice as much. Shoot, even your idol and hero -- who shall remain nameless here, since I wouldn't want to be accused of being "aggressive" -- is way more expensive than Osgood, and we all know what kind of playoff results that player has managed in his career...

And even if the Blues did manage to have a Khabibulin or someone similar fall into their laps, is that enough to carry a team through the playoffs when no one is scoring and two of the top three defensemen are sidelined?

I doubt it.

And everyone and his brother has been "trading" Demitra here over the last couple of weeks. Way to go out on a limb there, Nostradamus; that's a bold call...

Trading Osgood makes since. Philly badly needs a goalie. The Blues are going nowhere, so maybe they could get a decent player for him.

Show me ONCE where I've "gloated" over the Blues poor play. I'm just as pained as anyone else, except I am just smart enough to accept reality and make some hard
decisions. You and others seem to be willing to go down with the sinking ship.

The time is NOW to salvage the future rather than just sit back and do nothing.
