He came into the league with Quebec, not Toronto

Whatever parameters you want to put on your question doesn't change the fact that it started with Ottawa - Carolina. That may not be the intent of your thread, but it's fact.

So long as the Pens bring in a left winger for Crosby, I couldn't careless when the trades start.

However, I have absolutely no patience, so this waiting until Tuesday crap is killing me.

The only one moving in that list is Hossa imo. Sundin, like every other Leaf, hates Toronto and won't let Fletcher do his job and rebuild the team. seriously, he was hired to rebuild them and make moves, otherwise his employment was pointless. so how can he make moves if they all refuse to go anywhere?

Around 3pm MST.

My guess is Brad Richards is the first big name to go.

I agree... Tampa needs to keep Boyle because without him, they're defense would get even worse then it is now. Richards is the only reason why they can't resign Boyle. They already have a #1 center in Tampa with Lecavalier and that's why Richards would be expendable instead of St-Louis.

I see Richards going to New Jersey.... sorry, just woke up from my dream !!!

A big trade won't probably happen till later today, tomorrow.

Hossa, Sundin and if Jokinen is to be dealt, won't happen till Tuesday, because the teams will try to hold onto them for as long as possible, to see if a great deal will come in, or scare people that they might hold unto them and offer in more.

I also don't see anything major happening until Tuesday. But deals of lesser magnitude we might see today already.

It'll happen. It'll start today - teams who know they're buying very likely know what they need, and seemingly everything hinges on Sundin. I still think someone will pull out of the bidding on him and go to Plan B rather than get caught holding an empty bag, and dominos will start to fall pretty quickly - once the first "big" trade is done, everything else will heat up VERY quickly and GM's will start pulling the trigger.

Let me state this plainly: if there are teams that don't make a move by 3:00pm Eastern on Tuesday and they go on to not win the Cup, those GM's will have some serious explaining to do. I'm 99% confident that someone will kick things off today - it's a matter of who and when. The other 1% is the lack of sleep from trying to pass yet another stone.

I still think that this deadline is going to be incredibly boring, unfortunately (or fortunately depending on you team and what their rumors are).

The NHL isn't about loyalty, it's about winning. Sundin's been in Toronto for what 13 years? i'd say that's pretty loyal. It's time for both to move on. The team hasn't made the playoffs in 3 years and they seriously need a rebuild. I like that they signed Steen, i wish McCabe would waive his NTC, so we could build around Kaberle, Toskala.

The best possible situation would be Toronto dealing McCabe and going after Hossa (a complete player). that way they have a goalie, dman and forward to build around. Of course it won't happen.. it's what i dreamt last night

This is a perfect illustration of what I told someone this morning. It seems like society has no tolerance for patience or how things used to be - everything must be done now, it must be bigger, and the current "status quo" is bad for a variety of reasons, some of which actually include logic. Every year, there's always complaints about how this year's Super Bowl/World Series/Stanley Cup Finals/[insert major event here] is "the worst ever" regardless of the actual events that transpire; there's an all-too-common refrain of, "I expected more" from some people no matter how much this year's events dwarf last year.

I maintain that if there's 35 trades on Tuesday [blowing away the record], there will be complaints - either it wasn't enough trades, the names involved weren't big enough, ... it'll be something. Even if every team completely turned over their roster on Tuesday afternoon, there would be some who would complain, "I expected more" and be dead serious about it.

There will be trades, folks. I promise. Don't spend the day sitting around waiting for it to happen - get outside and enjoy the sun [or the clouds, whichever is applicable], deals will take place soon enough.
