Bad comparison. While their point scoring rate is similar. Dawes is no way near Dubinsky's level defensively.
And that is why Dubi is not a trade piece and Dawes ( who I love btw ) is a trade piece.

In a perfect world. They both reach their potential and we watch them for the next 10+ years.
But in reality, not all young players stick around. A lot of them get used in order to improve the team in other areas.

Its up to Dawes to make sure that trading him does not become an option.

Dawes will be re-signed in the offseason. I don't see the Rangers trading him right now unless a big player becomes available in the offseason (i.e. Lecavalier, St. Louis, Kovalchuk).
