No from a Kings point of view. And I don't think Lowe would offer that anyway.

If I was Lowe, I'd do it but I doubt the Kings would.

Lombardi is big-time into the draft and values his picks. If we land the #1 overall, no way in hell he deals it.

Good thing your not Lowe then. Pitkanen in a trade could get us a pretty decent return anyways. Also, a RFA sheet would guarantee us 4- 1st rounders for him, rather than an upgrade in this draft.

I don't think either team wants to do this deal.

Are you kidding me? Let's see...Anaheim's pick might end up middle of the pack, LA won't necessarily get first overall, there's no guarantee whoever is taken with LA's pick is going to be better than Pitkanen, and there's no guarantee whoever is taken with LA's pick is going to be better than whoever is taken with Anaheim's pick. Basically, Edmonton would lose an NHL defenseman who's had two 40+ point seasons, one of which could have been 60+ had he not been injured (admittedly his numbers aren't great this season but he's been decent defensively, and he plays on an offensively inept team), and a first round draft pick for a better first round draft pick...no thanks.

No team would sign Pitkanen to an offer sheet that would lose 4 1st round picks.

LA wouldn't do it...and with the way the season has gone for the Oilers, the Kings would proceed to go on a tear down the stretch, Anaheim would have a key injury and barely make the playoffs...the result is the Oil giving up Pitkanen to move up about 5 spots in the 10-20 range of the draft.

Count me in the camp that never wants to see his team without it's own 1st rounder unless it's moved at the deadline when you know you are out of the bottom 5...this sucks.

From a LA perspective, I'd say HELL NO.

rubbish

the return for an offer sheet is proportional to the wage offered to the player. in order for pitkanen to get you 4 1st rounders (provided that average salaries are rising at the same rate as the cap and that it rises to $54m) the offer sheet would have to be $6.87m. not happening

The other brackets, out of interest

Below $906000 Nothing
$906000 - $1.37m Third round pick
$1.37m - $2.75m Second Round Pick
$2.75m - $4.12m First and Third Round Picks
$4.12m - $5.5m First, Second and Third Round Picks
$5.5m - $6.87m Two Firsts, a second and a third
Above $6.87m Four Firsts

There's no reason at all for the Oilers to do this.

As will the Oilers.

Prospects are way overvalued here.

Technically a riot consists of at least three people.

My guess is that they would have no trouble finding a third to make a go of it.

The average value is determined by dividing the total value by 5 years if it's more than a 5 year contract, though.

So, if somebody offered 8 years, $35 million or 10 years, $50 million it would qualify 4 1sts, I think (35/5 or 50/5).
