Probably hoping on seeing if he and Phaneuf can make use of their chemistry from the Red Deer Rebels. Vandermeer seems to having a decent game so far.

Yeah I could see that being one of the reasons. Regehr and Sarich are partners and Dion plays with Aucoin on the powerplay but Dion doesn't have a regular partner.

I think they are giving him a legit chance. No point getting someone and then bringing down their confidence by sitting them on the bench. If he delivers then he continues with the minutes. I think his doing a fair job so far.

I'm still wondering why there was no penalty for goaltender interference back there??

Well I thought the Flames started the first half of the period like they were still asleep, they looked better in the second half.

The Wild look frustrated.

Some notes from the first period:

Huselius is playing well and I notice he's simplifying his game. I'm hoping to see him get that goal so that he can put some more skill back into his game.

Lombardi has to try a new move. How many times have I seen him this season just fly up the wing then put the puck into the goaltender's pads?

I would have liked to of seen the Flames get more shots on net, but considering it's an early afternoon game, not a bad period. Hopefully they can build on this lead with a strong 2nd period.

Vandy doesn't look out of place at all thus far paired with Phaneuf. I just assumed he'd be a 3rd-pairing guy.

I just want to know why, Sportsnet and the Fan 960 have not mentioned the fact that Tanguay might be hurt!

I was thinking the same thing. Could he be boarding a plane?

The only Flames left winger I want boarding a plane is Huselius.

They just showed the replay on Sportnet, seems he went down awkwardly when hit from behind by Foster in the first period.

Well, he's far less likely to be traded if he's hurt.

Interesting to see Huselius take Tanguay's spot on the PK.

Huselius has played on the PK before, though not as much this season, because of Tanguay. I guess what I am saying is I'm not that shocked to seem him out there.

Yeah, I remember that last season in the first half. Kind of ironic considering Huselius can sometimes be pretty bad defensively but is a fairly decent PKer.
