He should be a decent 4th line energy guy.

Hopefully he worked a few things out because he was absolutely horrible in Calgary.

LOL its not like he was going to reject it.

Hopefully he doesn't gamble it all away again.

Im curious to know if hes going to play with Maltby and Draper again... that was a sick checking line.

He'll rotate in and out on the 4th line. It's just money, not a bad deal for the Wings.

I guess that means Detroit no longer has an interest in Hossa?

The pro-rated amount of the contract will barely cover much of the debt.

You can bet (no pun intended) that they had a hand in making this happen. Against some of the non-contenders, they might roll out the Grind Line to see if the old chemistry still works.

It's not a bad deal for the Wings, given his familiarity with the team and playoff style game, but what I really like about it is that they are taking care of one of their own. Shows a lot of class on behalf of the organization.

Cool beans...looking forward to seeing him back with the team. I still think Babs needs to plug him in with Draper and Maltby and bring back the Grind Line.

At the very least he will play some shifts with those guys for media purposes only. Especially if they were to start some odd game close to the end of the season. The Joe would go crazy (perhaps for one of the first times all season ) to hear that the starting lineup is the Grind Line.

Darren McCarty mightve had the biggest fan following in Detroit only after Yzerman. There wasnt a fan amongst us who didnt love the guy. He was all heart and soul. I can imagine he'll be playing with more energy than he has in a good decade, just to be pumped to be back with his old team.

In a way, its like Osgoods situation. He was heartbroken when he had to leave the Wings, and then once he comes back to the squad, he was so elated that he ends up playing like he did nearly 10 years ago. Hopefully something similar can eventually pan out with Mac..

14-day (2 week) condition assignment according to TSN...probably will be up with the Wings in the second week in March. Just projecting here...two weeks from tomorrow, they host Chicago...that would be an awesome game to bring him up for.

it's really good news. not just for the wings but also for mccarty. i really want him to turn his life into something better. and this might be the 1st step.

brilliant move by holland. more people want to watch the wings now, they might sell some mccarty merch and maybe he adds something good to the team.
a no risk contract.

I hope he does well. He was always a Wing to me, nice to see him back with them.

I think this trade deadline has set or will set the record for most time ''dominoes start to fall'' has been/will be used.
