Well considering the Ducks got Doughty in the mock draft I am tempted to say you're right. However I do not think that pick will end up being a top 5, and even if it is, you’re undervaluing Morrison.
His points have dwindled a bit recently. That is due to the decreased ice-time and defensive system being used by the Canucks. I actually really have no desire to sit here and convince you that a 32 year old 60 point center is worth more than a first rounder. Of course that is assuming he was signed for 2.5ish for the next 3 years (as per my original statement.)
Morrison has hit 60 points three times in his career, and that was during the years where Naslund and Bertuzzi were also dominant. If Morrison is a 60 point then Bert is an 80 point winger and Naslund is a superstar.
Even if he was signed for that long, he isn't worth a high first rounder. Maybe a late one, maybe, but definetely not even a top-20 first. How often do you see second line players dealt for first rounders? I'm not sure I've ever seen that, although my memory isn't what it used to be.
