HITS, BLOCKED ETC STATS FOUND 2003-2004 Season

I tried to search a thread related to this.. no luck.. so I wanna post this.. if its old news just delete

All I can say is LOL:.. My friend found the nhl 2003-2004 stats that were supposed to be unavailable for the media and fans.. I dont know if this has been discovered before but.. here's how you can see them..

www.nhlpa.com

search a player name aka Horton or any player you want

then go back to 2001-2002 reg season stats.. then there's a link under what stats you wanna see.. just press hits, blocks etc.. it will show the 2001-2002 stats... then just change the year to 2003-2004 and you'll see this seasons stats! there is no option to see these stats when your under 2003-2004 but when you goto 2001 the hits etc bar is kept as default and you can see the stats!! very neat.. Here's Nathan Horton for exsample..

Florida Panthers
39 Players
Games Played 44
Penalties in Minutes 43
Major Penalties in Minutes 1 5th
Minor Penalties in Minutes 14
Hits Given 52
Blocked Shots 8

TSN showed the league leaders in hits this week. Chara was 1st, and Neil was 4th.

Yeah, you can use the same trick to get stats for the whole league or one team too, not just a single player. Just go to the "Stats and Scores - League Wide" menu at the top, pick a team (or leave it on "League Wide") and then do the same trick.

4 Sens in the Top 20 with hits and a healthy Volchenkov probably would of made it too.

Not to mention Chara has 30 hits more than the next closest player.

That's why they tried to get rid of the stats in the first place. Some buildings are much more lenient on giving out hits than others. Therefore players that play 41 times ina building that is lenient on giving out hits rocket to the top of the standings.

Some buildings give a hit anytime body contact is made, some buildings only give credit for a hit if you knock someone over.

Same thing with the giveaway/takeaway stat.

Yeah, I remember Svehla consistently either leading the league or being in top five in hits while playing in FLA.

Same thing with the giveaway/takeaway stat.

But now that these aren't "official" NHL stats, who is compiling them? Is the NHLPA doing so from video? Or are the stats guys at the different rinks counting them?

The NHLPA stepped in and made the NHL still keep the stats, but they aren't made public.

The stat guys at the different rinks, just like before. The NHLPA won a grievence with the NHL, to make sure that the stats are still kept, becuase it helps some of their member in arbitration cases.

The stats just aren't made as public as they were before.

Methinks the statkeeper in Anaheim is an obvious homer. Obviously the Ducks must be doing great this year, since practically the entire team are experts at taking the puck away, and rarely give it away.

He's not the only one either. It's obvious looking at this stuff which rinks are more generous than others, it's the same teams over and over near the top. These are more useful for comparing players on the same team, I think.
