I know the leafs have been battling the flu, that could be a reason. Also you must remember he is Hal Gill so being a healthy scratch probably means the coach isn't happy with his play.

The only other scratches worth mentioning are Alexi Ponikarovsky, Mike Richards, Dean McAmmond and Jochen Hecht. Poni, Richards and Hecht are injured and I'm guessing McAmmond is either hurt or missing just because. So, more or less no indications of anything.

Poni is out a week with an injury.

Gill has the "flu"., Considering he hasn't been a healthy scratch in two years here and is ahead of Stralman, White and Cola on the depth chart, there could definitely be something to this.

Agreed.

I don't get all this "Hal Gill is the worst defenceman in the league" talk when he's clearly been more than adequate this season. I'm not even a Leafs fan, but to deny that Gill has been effective this season is silly.
