o ok, I get what ur doing now.
Prospal's 1.9 mil * 25% = 475k left remaining this year. UFA this season.

Boyle's contract doesnt kick in till next year.
If they trade Richards, next year they'd save (7.8-6.7)+(Boyle's current contract at 3.3 mil) = 4.4 mil in salary....

He's making Rob Blake money now, good for him. Based on what is out there I think Boyle needed to be re-signed whereas guys like Richards and Prospal are expendable. There just aren't that many good defensemen out there anymore and especially 1 with the offenive talents that Boyle has.

haha. its not dificult to guess that the day before the trade deadline something will happen at the easts worst side, whatever happened to 'two sources tell me mats sundin has agreed to waive his no trade clauses' from last night. i don't doubt he has sources but these were not overly difficult things to pick

Too much money, IMO. I think Feaster's been overly generous to his star players in the past, and this continues the trend.

Boyle's a nice d-man and all, but he's going to have an extremely difficult time living up to this contract...

If they really are going to trade Richards, why not have traded Boyle too and really gotten a lot of young assets back? If you're going to be a last-place team, leverage it for all it's worth! They could always have spent this cash on Boyle or Campbell or any other two defencemen in free agency.

Why not have traded him now and gotten something back, then ponied up the same amount of money plus another 500K or so to get him back in the summer? Maybe it doesn't work out, but then you've got almost $7M/y in your pocket.

I dunno. Go salary cap Go.

To call that something could happen in for a specific team hours before it does isn't just taking a shot in the dark. And after reading a lot of his Sundin stuff today, it sounds like a ton of it was opinion based(he said it was obvious a lot).

Ek's problem isn't that he isn't connected, as he is, but that he has no journalistic integrity and reports everything that he hears in hopes of making the money. He also tends to exaggerate a lot of things. For example, a GM may simply ask about a player, and he makes it seem like a deal might be in place or is in place.

He doesn't do well during the trading season, but during free agency he's pretty solid.

why does Tampa have to overpay EVERY single one of their players. And not just small overpayments, but massive ones.

Boyle at 6.66!?!?!? did they even negotiate?

For $40 Tampa Bay just purchased the following Dan Boyle seasons:
age 32
age 33
age 34
age 35
age 36
age 37

There's a decent chance he'll be done by age 36 so that one could hurt in about 5 years.
