Would you rather trade Carter for...

I've been thinking about this for a little while, wanted to get some thoughts. Let's assume that for salary reasons and team needs, we have to trade Carter.

I said at the draft for Daughty, but I don't think trading him is the way to go. Right now, we have Parent, Coburn, and Timonen who are a very decent top 3. There is a solid chance that we could see someone like Bartulis step in with Parent on the second pairing and do well, along with other candidates. I think Carter will be next year's Richards, and he's still so young with so much potential. He's finally showing flashes so I think trading him would be a mistake.

I can't even focus enough right now to analyze this hypothetical or give an answer here. I'm still too whacked out off the adrenaline rush from that game.

One thing I will say...I find it rude to be creating a thread title with the words "trade" and "Carter" in it after the guy just had one of the games of his life. How 'bout a little common courtesy for Cartsey, eh?

Carter looked really good tonight, and has looked really good the past few games. I really don't want to give up on Carter. I think our best bet is to move other assets(a winger) for a competent dman that can move the puck.

Carter was an absolute beast tonight. I hope he figures out how to play with that edge and intensity every game from now on

I would do either of those deals, but Doughty's upside is incredible, a true #1 skilled defenseman.

I'd rather keep him but I'd choose Suter. I really like Doughty, but I don't like the idea of giving up someone who is on the verge of breaking out for someone who hasn't played a game in the NHL.

If Doughty is ready to step in right away I might change my mind because we need immediate help.

Doughty. Much higher offensive upside (think Pitkanen's potential) and has 3 years experience as Parent's D partner.

if I had to pick one, I would choose the 'draft' trade for Doughty.

although, I would choose not to trade him because I also believe that Carter will be next years Richard's.

Last night was a good look at what is possible, and it's pretty darn impressive.

Flyers should try and resign both Umbegrer and Carter and not just because of last night.

I wouldn't know enough about Doughty or Suter to begin to make an assessment, but they'd have to be legitimate all-star #1 defensemen to make me want to part ways with Carter.

would nashville consider something like downie + something else for suter?

i asked this on the 610 homer thread. if homer said that he backed out on the trade that he had set-up, it would kind of make sense for downie to be the guy since we have an injury problem right now. somebody in another thread also said that nashville will possibly be looking to move suter because he is going to get paid very soon, therefore, they won't be looking to take on a lot of salary (carter). just wondering
