Although I agree with Badger Bob (see the Forsberg thread ), that we may face a rather quiet version of deadline day, I decided to open this thread and sticky it:
Please post all trades around the league, in which the Flames aren't directly involved, here and discuss them here!
All other threads will be deleted or merged. Thanks!
lol the montreal one has me laughing... gainey goes out and tells the media he's hunting for a major player, then goes and trades his solid starting goalie..
i dont see any available goalies as upgrades over huet... the only way montreal upgrades their goalie position if they get someone who isnt on the trade market and that would account for some major overpayment...
puzzling move... price may be ready as a starter for the playoffs but why take the risk?? its unnecessary especially since montreal looks to be contenders in the east this year
names being thrown around dont make alot of sense... roloson, halak, hedberg, even khabibulin... id rather just keep huet and let him walk at the end of the season...
Still nothing that affects the Flames all that much... Vancouver misses out on the big forward as usual, Edmonton doesn't do anything, Minnesota always stays put, and Forsberg will be lucky if he plays 10 games. I guess we may as well stay put
The Colorado reunions of Adam Foote and Forsberg are funny. Are Roy, Bourque and Blake next? What about Valerie Kamensky?
I think Montreal got fleeced in the Huet deal. They must think Price can do what Roy did. Hopefully so, because I like the Habs. If they're going to pick up a Roloson type then it wasn't worth it.
I think the Bernier, Campbell deal was fair. Ottawa picking up Lapointe is a good grit, depth move. The Richards to Dallas deal may blow up in Tampa's face is Mark Smith doesn't produce and develop. Fedorov going to Washington for a first is crazy. Washington is picking up lots of money and probably wants him to play with Ovy. Columbus is doing a good job of dumping salary.
I also liked the Montreal of this season and Im rooting for them in the East... but dumping Huet and thats it, bad move if you believe your team is good at the moment and can make a strong push in the post season. Maybe Gainey did it thinking he was sure to get Hossa... well still a bad move.
Im bummed Jussi Jokinen went to Tampa as I despise that team and think ne Finn should play there, plus I was liking the Finnish force in Dallas... oh well
San Jose is pretty darn powerfull now, hope we dont face them in the 1st round...
The West is going to be one action packed place during the final push into the post season... GO FLAMES!!!!
