Grabovski has played well enough just to be called up by the Canadiens. It doesn't mean that there will be a trade just for that reason.

In fact I'd say that him being called up will be the only move we do today....

It's a good move to bring up Grabo.
If it's in the Hossa trade then great if not it's Latendresse Grabo and S.Kostitsyn in the third line against Atlanta with NO Hossa because he is getting traded no matter what.

yes, but we have too many players on the active roster. if he's called up either someone else has to be sent down, traded or injured.

Granted Grabovski has played his way to a call up for the team. But is he a trade piece for Gainey to Atlanta or is he being called up to replace Lapierre if he is in the deal???

OR..

So he can get their in-time to play for Atlanta tonight?
One thing I'd hazard a guess at is be fairly sure of is that if a trade happens, none of the key players will be in the lineups tonight.

edit.

Is it worth speculating that Gainey called him up to essentially present the optics to other GMs ' look, we're going to make a move, whether it be with you or someone else?'

Ryder will probably be moved and Grabs is going to be here to replace him.

Grabovsky has NOT been called up by Gainey to be traded! Come on guys!
What's the point of calling a player if he's traded!??! If he's traded, why bother calling him up? He has been called up to take the spot of some player that will likely be traded! (and isn't the team maximum number of players higher once the trade deadline is over? if it's the case, then we don't even have to make a trade for this to make some sense!)

Maybe this is some kind of omen; the first time all the belarussian players are on the big club at the same time.

Either Grabs is going to be traded or he is being called up to replace someone else that is going to be traded.....otherwise they would have to send someone else down to Hamilton to make room on the Habs roster for Grabs.

The only other possibility is if someone on the current Habs roster is hurt and will be placed on the IR, then Grabs is simply going to replace him. But I think that Grabovski is going to be involved in the Hossa trade.

Can't wait to find out!!!

The point is to call him up to montreal, where Atlanta is >RIGHT NOW< to play us tonight. Either montreal would call him up, or Atlanta would, so if he was part of the deal he'd be called up either way.

That would make sense actually.

You know what doesn't make sense though? Why Gainey would deal with Washington when he's trying to cozy up to Atlanta. If I was Waddell I wouldn't be happy about the Huet deal.
